I just returned from my first backpacking trip using the upland tent. It is very spacious inside, and has many nice features. First, it was easy to put up and pull down. The vents in the top are nice. The door is spacious and zips easily. One consideration if there are actually 2 people sleeping in the tent: whoever is on the inside wall will need to climb over the person closest to the door. "Couples" should probably consider a tent with different door placement. There is no vestibule, but I feel the rain cover will be adequate for most trips. I am very satisfied with the tent and was very comfortable.
This tent has one glaring problem... rain comes right in through the closed door zipper, pretty much immediately after it starts falling. All that is needed is a flap or something over the zipper to shed rain. Kinda sad for an otherwise well-built and easy to use piece of gear.
My sister and I just got back from our first backpacking trip with this tent. It was amazing, the perfect size and weight for backpackers not wanting to spend a fortune. As mentioned in the other reviews the back side of the tent sleeper does need to climb over the door side person, but this was not a big issue. The roof mesh without the rain fly was great for stargazing. Very easy to set up, can do by one-self. Two people fit no problems
I used this tent on a 5 day backpacking trip and it served me well. The tent packs light and the hubbed poles were easy to navigate with the tent due to the color coordination. It looks small because it is but the inside is perfect for exactly 2 people. The space inside didn’t feel cramped. This was a great purchase.
Pros: Overall quality seems good; no obvious flaws. Very light and easy to set up or take down. Good ventilation, especially at the back with the fly pulled out. Cons: I had to crawl in and out the door. With constant bending over in a cramped space, I got cramps in my legs. Summary: A good tent for one person and for value, but I can't imagine two people entering and exiting.
Easy to set up. Worked great on a 4 night camping trip for 6 ft guy.
I got a past edition of this tent five years ago and its held up excellently. Its not perfect but for the price point its been great in a variety of environments between New Zealand rainforests and the Utah desert. One of my favorite workarounds is to not take the poles backpacking when I know there will be clear weather and clips on the top to a branch or something.
