Lifesavers
I recently went camping at Assateague (beach camping) and we arrived way later than expected because of traffic so it was almost dark by the time we had started setting up so I didn't have time to gather materials and use my firestarter. It was also extremely windy so the regular matches I usually use just fizzled out immediately or wouldn't be lit long enough for my firelog (which I'm also glad I bought) to catch. Literally went through a book of matches with no luck. Decided to pull out one of these heavy duty matches and was able to light it immediately and it stayed lit through all the wind and long enough to get my fire going. I don't know what we would've done if I hadn't decided to buy these literally an hour before we left.
Matches great, case not so much
The matches themselves are completely waterproof and work as advertised. I did a home test and soaked a match in water before lighting, and it was not affected after lighting. I even put the lit match under running water, and the flame was doused but re-ignited shortly after. However, the case is NOT watertight as advertised. I did another sink test at home and left it floating in water for about 5 minutes - after removing and unscrewing the top, the inside of the case was wet. All in all, you buy this piece of gear for the matches themselves, but be aware that the case will let water in. This is crucial given the cotton stuffing inside would be rendered useless for at least a bit of time once damp.
Great Matches
I simply love the UCO match products especially the Stormproof matches. Truly a great addition to any emergency kit. These matches burn for a very long time, however if you take the calculated 25sec multiplied by the 12 matches you have a burn time of 300 secs now take the Regular Stormproof matches which burn for about 15 secs but there are 25 of them you get a burn time of 375 secs. The titan matches are great if you need a smaller tube but you get more than a full min of burn time with the Regular kit.
Do not light indoors
I tested out one of these matches before going out into the backcountry, and I made the mistake of doing so indoors. The flame was massive, I couldn’t get it out - not with wind, not with water. My whole apartment got smoky. But now I know I can really count on these bad boys if I need to.
Heavier than other match kits, but also better
I bought these after the UCO brand 'survival matches' failed me. Will not go back to the cheaper ones again. Just do yourself a favor with any of these match kits: remove the striker from the outside and put it INSIDE the case! They will get soggy if left on the outside!
Great matches and case
I am amazed at how these matches burn in any condition. Also, the spare strikers inside are a nice touch. The case itself is rugged and gives you enough texture to grip when loosening it. Finally, here i a trick I use: Once you have used a few of the Titan matches you can start to back fill the space with the regular UCO long matches. This gives you a mix of possibilities.
NOT safe for indoor use
These matches light up fast and create a torch like flame! Be prepared for a flash of fire and have something ready to light. These should not be left around the house, to be accidentally tampered with by children, or unsuspecting adults. They will however do the job of lighting a fire, despite the conditions outside, in an emergency. A must have for a survival pack.

I bought one package to test and “play with” and the other pack to keep on hand. After almost catching my house on fire (LOL!) I can assure you these matches WORK VERY WELL... so well so that once you get one lit good luck trying to put it out LOL!! They stay lit WHILE SUBMERGED UNDER WATER!!
Must have for anyone that camps in the high countr
I used thes matches up in Wyoming on the North Plattr. My black lab and I were freezing one morning and need to get a fire going. Pretty windy and lighter was out of go juice. These matches got the fire and stove going in a hurry. Since that trip, I have purchased the waterproof carrier with stricter paper on the side.
works better than advertised
Do not use these to light candles! They smoke a lot. They will set off your smoke detectors. They work great for bonfires. Case is quality.
