Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cycling's Best Friend I had been using the men's version of this shoe for quite some time now. This shoe has to be one of the most versatile and performance driven products ever brought to the cycling world. Support for your arch through the mid-sole keeps you flat on your pedals; just where you want to be while utilizing the contact or "flat" patch on the Stealth sticky rubber platform of this premium Five Ten product. Almost as good as being clipped in. I bought another set for my partner and she could not believe the performance gains! She now uses them for commuting, mountain biking, and just plain lifestyle. Love that Five Ten Sticky Rubber!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shoes work great! I'm fairly new to MTB so I'm not super hip on all the gear, but I know I love my bike and I love riding my flats. I needed a better shoe from a tradition trainer, and refuse to clip in. I have to say...these shoes are totally worth it!!! I'm not here to review these shoes on how you can walk in them all day, or how stylish they are. I wear them to mountain bike...and they're perfect! They're comfortable and I feel glued to my flats. The special rubber is sticky enough to feel attached, but can easily release when needed. I refuse to be clipped in, so these are literally the next best thing! In fact, they're so amazing that I can't imagine ever wanting or needing to clip in. I also think they're pretty cool looking! If you ride need these!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flat Pedal Shoe!!! I started off this season being super timid with my clipless pedals. I purchased flat pedals and bought these shoes last week and did my first ride in them last night. I am in LOVE! I felt so much more confident and the shoes stuck ride to the pedal spikes. I ended up getting my normal size (9.5) and they fit fine. I laced the shoe laces a little tighter to make sure my toes wouldn't hit the end. I had no problems and no hot spots on my feet. My only issue with them is that where you place your foot on the pedal is where it sticks (and that is just an adjustment thing for me to do and not a reason to mark down the review). I would absolutely recommend these to someone who is riding with flat pedals!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, grippy Have only ridden about 40 miles in these so far but they've been very comfortable, good grip on my flat pedals. Have to almost pick foot up to adjust position.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from five tenths on quality... I was excited to order these shoes, they sounded great. I was so disappointed at the quality of the insides of these shoes, so uncomfortable with hard stitching poking your feet wear the front sides are stitched in. Maybe a manufacturing defect?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I really wanted to like these shoes I have a bunion on one foot that I can take care of my using custom orthotics. No need for surgery and I do not have wide feet at all. The instant I put these shoes on my bunion foot KILLED me. There is something about the way the sole is constructed that really makes my foot hurt. I am now using clipless pedals with a stiff shoe and for some reason, none of the clipless shoes I tried hurt my foot at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Colorful, stiff and sturdy mountain biking shoes I LOVE the color way on these shoes. The fit is excellent with plenty of toe room. Super tough upper materials and sturdy platform for biking. I've read mixed reviews of how well the sticky bottoms will hold up over the next year, but am confident that if they don't, I can take them back to REI and get my money back. That's the beauty of REI.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too small I wear a size 9 in every shoe or boot, but these were too short in length. Very expensive to return from Hawaii, and I've now lost my 20% off coupon since the shoes were also too heavy and I won't reorder.

Do these shoes tend to run small? or narrow? or wide? If I wear a street shoe in 6.5 and a Keen hiking shoe in 7, what would be the best suggested choice for these shoes? (not available in my local store to try on)

Asked by: Mike Waller
The Freerider Contact Bike Shoes have been known to run true to length. We would recommend ordering your usual street shoe size.

Can you recommend a pedal that would pair well with these shoes?

Any platform pedal will work with the Freeride shoes:

Why are the Women's Freerider shoes priced $50 more than the Men's Freerider shoes? Are the sizes consistent between Women's and Men's, i.e. if I order the Men's in a size 9, would that be the same length as the Women's in a size 9?

Asked by: ET2
The Freerider Contact Bike Shoes are a different shoe than the Freerider Bike Shoes. The Freerider Contact shoes are made of a different upper material and have a different lining and footbed.
