Poor Construction
I would not buy this product. I purchased this watch to double as a work watch and fishing/camping watch because it looks nice but not too fancy. After about two months of occasional use, it failed in the middle of a fishing trip. I went to check the time and realized the button had completely fallen off. This should never happen on any watch. You could expect to accidentally pull the button out regularly, as the button is highly sensitive to come out (I had to correct the date multiple times before this incident). Eventually the button will fall off and you won't even know how.
Reliable timepiece, so far so good.
I have had this watch for about a year and a half, was trying to put it on in the parking lot at my work, dropped it on the ground and the back cover, battery, and plastic stabilizer piece all fell apart. i have not yet been able to get it back together, but a watch repair shop could probably do it pretty quick. Still surpised that a three foot fall onto blacktop would cause it to completely disassemble, but I I only paid $60 for it, so maybe not too surprising. My Casio G-Shock, which I have had for like 7 years is still going strong and only changed one battery. I do feel wth a name like "expedition" this watch should be more durable, which is why I only gave 3 stars.
4 star watch 2 star review
I’ve had this watch almost a year now, the first watch I’ve ever owned. I love this thing, however it has its downsides. I’ve replaced the bottom strap pin twice, and have gone through 2 wristbands (on the third) cons: can break easily at the pins, gets hung up on backpacks. Pros: easily replaceable parts at any place that deals in watches aka:Fred Myers Jewlers or a place of that sort. Accurate, only have to re adjust every few weeks. I keep it fast 2 or three minutes so I’m always early. It looks good, could be better with a few simple design fixes, does its job. And hey, it’s fifty bucks, it’s only other rival is the OG Casio.
Good watch, backlight doesn't work for very long.
This is the second Expedition watch I have gotten this year. I initally purchased in January and within 2 months the backlight quite working. This is a really clean looking watch and the blue blacklight on the black face is super cool, but yeah stopped working randomly. I hadn't dropped it or hit it on anything. I had been outside in negative temperatures and flown on small planes with less pressurized cabins, but nothing extradonary. Replaced the watch under the 90 day electronics guarentee and received my new one in March. 3 months later, the same issue. backlight stopped working. I'm over the 90 days for exchange on this one, and it seems to be a systemic problems since I struck out twice. Watch still looks nice and works, just can't see the time in the dark.
Date stopped working
I’ve owned numerous Expedition watches made by Timex. Eventually they do wear out. They are great looking and usually function well. I purchased a model similar to this one about six months ago. The date faltered in that it would not advance and then seemed to correct itself. As of late, it is stuck in that it refuses to change automatically or manually. Disappointed.
This Expedition Get what you pay for?
I owned an expedition for nearly 25 years and all I did was change the battery every so often. Great watch. But Timex is not the same company. Within 4 months of buying this watch the watchband began to separate and curled annoyingly on the end. Timex would not replace Said watch bands did not fall under warranty...4MONTHS!!! Recently 9 months after purchase the indiglo feature is not working. Main reason I like the expedition. TIMEX product is not well made. They want me to pay $8 handling and shipping fee to have fixed. NOPE not for a $62 watch.
Good look, bad watch
I bought this watch with my REI Dividend despite the poor reviews. After having to reset the date and time on multiple occasions, the crown completely fell off for no reason. I loved the look and feel of this watch but am disappointed in its poor construction.
Lovely, until the crown disappeared
Mine is the tan face version of this watch, with a black painted case. As with several other reviews, the watch worked nicely until one day it stopped. I found that the crown and stem were gone. No memory of it catching on anything. The watch was probably about 1 1/2 to two years old. Other similar Timex watches I've had (a couple of slightly smaller Expeditions, and a day/date watch) have not had trouble with the crown. This must be a poor design. The paint also wears off, showing silver underneath. The silver or pewter colored Timex cases I've had have worn better.
Broken belt in 10 days!!!
I got this for my husband Christmas gift. Before he use 2weeks, the belt’s pin were gone. He went back to old watch. Very disappointed
Good looking watch but not durable/reliable
Needed a simple watch. Liked the look, feel and price of this unit. After about a month I had to reset it every other month. After about 4 months the adjustment knob fell off and the watch stopped working. Based on the other posted review, this may not be an isolated problem....
