Comfortable and lightweight - I forgot I had it on
I grew up skiing without a helmet (I started skiing in the 90s). I knew I should get one for my trip to Whistler, but I was hesitant because I was concerned I would feel top heavy. I also tend to overheat during exercise and I didn't want my head feeling like a sauna. I typically don't like having anything on my head. No worries with this helmet! It's my first helmet - maybe there are cheaper ones that are exactly the same - but I highly recommend it. It's very comfortable, lightweight, and easy to use. I forgot I had it on! I even have a weird shaped head from sleeping strangely as a baby. I won't say all the bells and whistles that make this helmet a whopping $260 are worth it because I didn't adjust the vents at all during my trip. Maybe the vents and the removable ear pieces will be more important for spring skiing. My head circumference is 57 inches and I got the size medium.
amazing, but smaller fit
I tried this helmet on compared to the women’s liberty and I have a small head. The Liberty was much loser and I had to crank it down to get it fit my head vs. this helmet when I first tried it one was looking to loosen it - only to find I could not. That being said it’s fits me pretty well, almost a little too tight (size small). I would suggest however, for most buyers to consider going up a size or try this on before you buy it. (I tried on the medium however and it was too big for me).
Perfect fit one size up
I’m a guy but I bought the ‘women’s’ because they were out of the large in ‘Men’s.’ Another unnecessarily gendered product—the fit is identical between the mens and womens, it’s only the colors are different and maybe the ear pads are softer in the womens. Amazing helmet though; super comfy and airy, but quite warm.
Perfect Helmet
I have used this helmet in Dec ski conditions at Northstar, Kirkwood, Heavenly, Park City and Deer Valley since my purchase. Experienced bitter cold temperatures as well as blue bird days at surprisingly warm temps. This helmet is perfect in both conditions. Skiing in cold temp (i.e -27 wind chill) I would recommend a hat under the helmet. Great style and comfort !
Runs small
Comfortable, but runs small. I bought a medium because my other Smith MIPS helmet is a small and it's a big tight. But this medium is even more snug. It gave me a bit of a headache so I returned it.
Best Helmet and fit.
Great Helmet.Everyone in my family has one.Great fit, nice vents, warm, great if you listen to music .I bought it for the safety features.
Terrible Helmet
I would never buy another Smith Helmet. The first one I bought I took straight back to the shop as the wind was blowing through the ear pads so loudly I couldn’t hear myself think and it gave me a terrible headache. The shop replaced it with another one which was not as bad but there is a plastic piece above the ears which holds the wires for the size adjustment and on one side it is lower which causes my ear to ache very badly all day and when I take the helmet off it is excruciating. It’s a terrible helmet.
Very good helmet
Bought this for myself, a senior long-time skier, and was so impressed I bought one for my daughter. Fit, warmth, technology, all very, very good.
Great Helmet, Bad Customer Service
I had bought a vantage helmet, and I loved it. However, I ended up having to do a warranty claim. The color I originally had was no longer available so I tried the lapis, but hated it. Because I did a warranty, I can't exchange it for a different color, even if I cover all return and shipping costs. Now I have a helmet I won't use, and need to buy a whole new helmet. Needless to say, I will be checking out other brands.
Color not as advertised
Ordered this helmet for my wife as a gift. She likes pink. So I ordered her the Matte Rock Salt - Tannin, Vantage helmet. I have seen the Rock Salt color on the Code Helmet before, which was a nice pink color. What showed up was not pink. Not at all!. More like a beige color. The vent closures was pink, but the main shell is beige. So, if you buy this helmet because you like pink, then move on, buy somewhere else.
