Good helmet, weird sizing

This is a fully featured helmet. It has lots of venting options that are easily adjustable, the BOA adjustment is great, and it's very warm/comfortable. The sizing for this helmet is *really* off as other people have noted. According to Smith's own sizing guide I should be in the middle range for a medium, but a medium on my head was way too tight. Unless your head measurement is at the *very* bottom of the range, definitely go a size UP.

No Quality Control on size, dissapointed.

The XL is labelled as 63-67 cm, but with a 61 cm head and a new headache, I can safely say this is a lie. Measuring the circumference of the helmet at max size, it's clear 63 is a stretch at best - this will never see 67 cm.

How much is your coconut worth to you?

What more can I say. I bought 2, Why? To protect my invaluable coconut, and leave 1 in Japan and keep 1 with me to board elsewhere. It’s the best snow helmet on the planet.

Nice Upgrade

Nice upgrade to my older Smith helmet of similar design. Two separate vent controls, more robust ear pads, MIPS protection, better goggle retention (elastic rather than snap). Kept me comfortably warm at -5 degF this past weekend and vented nicely at 30 degF a couple of weeks ago. Very pleased with purchase.

Uncomfortable Due To Poor Padding in the Forehead

95% of the helmet was exceptional, but very uncomfortable in the forehead area. The padding is rather thin and did not extend past the thin plastic that is used for the MIPS system. As a result, the plastic definitely cuts into the forehead area and is very uncomfortable after a while. At best, with extended use the plastic thin plastic pieces will hurt even more as the lining wears. My son and each bought this helmet and we had exactly the same issue. The helmet is relatively expensive and has a lot of great features. Unfortunately, comfort is not one of them. The lining should be an easy fix and hopefully Smith will correct this on future revisions.

Good but sized small

I measured my head at 24" and got the xl size and it is very snug. Good thing I'm bald or it would never have fit. I think the helmet may be sized with the earpiece removed as that seems like you'd gain an extra 3/4" or so. Other than that I'm enjoying it. I got some smith goggles to go along with it and they fit well with the helmet.

Vantage MIPS protects like advertised

This is my second vantage helemt this season. The first shattered on a fall I had in Jackson Hole. Thanks goodness I had the MIPS helmet or I would have had a major concussion but with the Vantage obsorbing the entire impact I walked away with no concussion or head injury.

Smith Vantage vs Giro Neo

I'm an Asian with 61cm head measurement. The Smith wasn't the Asian fit model. It didn't fit comfortably. Hot spots on the sides. I ended up buying a Giro Neo Asian fit. It fits great and matches perfectly with my Smith I/O MAG XL (Asian Fit) Snow Goggles. I skied a 10°F day this recently and while my toes froze, the Giro kept me warm. However, I've never had a cold head with any helmet. My observations regarding the Smith Vantage vs Giro Neo: 1. The Smith adjustment dial operates more smoothly. 2. The Smith seemed to be more hefty but comparable in weight to the Giro. 3. The Giro was half the cost. 4. Head shape is critical for optimum fit. BTW My buddy (white guy) bought the Smith Vantage and has no complaints.

Broke after two wears falling from a bench

DO NOT BUY THIS HELMET. This helmet contains a serious design flaw where if the visor is bumped or hit in any way it will shatter under the logo and the adhesive keeping the shell on the helmet will come loose. You may be thinking, that smith would cover this under their warranty and you'd be incorrect. They will offer you 30% off coupon (the same you would receive if you hit a tree at full speed) so you can light more money on fire on their overpriced hemlets which are not structurally sound. How can a helmet that you drop from 2ft and it breaks keep you safe? Save your money.

Pricey, Uncomfortable Liner

I have had the Smith Vantage for 2 seasons now. The shell material has proven to be far more durable than the material on the Smith Code helmet which has dents all over it from normal wear and tear. The adjustable vents are a nice touch and have proven to be reliable. The only thing that really holds this helmet back is the liner. It has rigid plastic backing that doesn’t stay in place. It bunches up and becomes uncomfortable. Smith really needs to go back to the drawing board on the liner. My kids helmets cost a fraction of the Vantage and have nice soft liners.
