I have last year's model of these boots, but I assume that they are essentially the same. They are really lightweight, and I find them perfectly suited to winter hiking, even in single digit temperatures. Very solid, work easily with yak trax and are compatible with snow shoes. I've never had any problem with moisture entering the boot, though I haven't used them in wet, slushy conditions--I've mostly used them in very cold conditions. Note, if you're walking through deep-ish snow, you're going to need some gaiters to keep snow out, as these boots aren't very tall. Overall, if you're looking for a winter boot that is comfortable, lightweight, and suitable for hiking, this may be the boot for you!
I just returned from a trip to Everest Base Camp wearing my KEEN Women's Revel III Winter Boot and I didn't have a single foot issue for the entire 14 day excursion, and it was brutal! I highly recommend these boots for comfort reasons alone. I wore them for about 2 hikes per week 4 months before my trek and they worked just great. I have nothing but good to say about these boots. I tried other brand boots before these but returned them. As soon as I put my foot in these I knew they were the right ones. I'm sold on the KEEN brand!
I wear size 9 shoes, 9 1/2 hiking boot and a 10 for winter. I bought KEEN because I wanted a wide boot to wear 2 thick pair of wool socks, without thick socks they would be too wide for a normal width foot. I would have preferred 100g of KEEN.WARM and not so tall especially in the front. I would have purchased the Kaci III but why would you want fabric (and it's ugly fabric!) on a snow boot?!! Pretty comfortable foot bed. I don't like how the upper back of the boot fits. Foot bed is longer than the top of the boot. At about 1 inch down from the top of the back of the boot, there is a seam that hits the back of my leg just above my heel. I assume this is a heel lock feature, no matter what it is it's NOT a good design because you can feel it when wearing 2 pair of thick socks. Since I'm desperate for wide winter boots I will probably keep them.
I bought these boots to use for fat biking. They are fantastic and easily my favorite winter boots overall. I ordered a half size up which allows room for an additional pair of socks or toe warmers. I still have comfortable room with those additions. That being said, they are not too big if I decide to wear them around without additional socks or warmers. My toes have only gotten cold on one occasion and that was a situation when I had to do a lot of hike-a-bike. Otherwise, my feet have always remained warm. I also love that they accommodate use of gaiters. I had reservations about whether or not they would allow sufficient mobility at my ankle but have had no issues with comfort there either. These boots were a great investment!
I work outdoors and found these to be the warmest and most comfortable workboots I have had. They also have good traction. I am stable on wet slopes and in trees. In fact I love them so much I bought a second pair, for fear they will no longer be available.
This boot is perfect. I have wide feet which is usually a problem but not with this boot. Plenty of room which provides great comfort and allows me to double up on socks.
I purchased this pair after my old Keens finally kicked the bucket after almost a decade of hiking and backpacking. I put off getting a new pair for a long time, not wanting to break in new ones. No breaking in was needed! I did 2 day hikes up 2 mountains in these brand new and no blisters or soreness at all. Great ankle support and the grip on the treads is astounding! (Granted, I've been hiking for a long time in boots I probably should have replaced years ago). The customer service at Keen is also great - two people spent as long as it took to help me find the right ones for me. I look forward to buying my next pair of Keens - in 5-10 years!
I just purchased these and have not worn them outside yet but did walk a couple of miles with them on my treadmill. I love the fit--good arch support and a wide toebox. I wear a size 10 women's shoe but in boots always an 11 since I wear very thick socks. Even with the socks I was able to go down a half size to a 10-1/2 with plenty of room. These shoes will be great for winter hiking as well as for show shoeing and do not feel heavy or cut into my ankles.
I have had several Keen shoes and love that they accommodate my wide feet, high arches and bunions. All seemed well in the store but after wearing them for 3 hours the area just above the inner ankle was hurting on both legs. I think it's because of the very stiff tongue. If not for that they'd have been a winner. I'm looking for a boot that I can walk a mile or two every day in winter. These are just too stiff for that. I had on thick wool socks and feet were toasty warm.
These beauties were stylish, comfortable and oh-so-functional right out of the box! They have been my go-to boots all winter long for hikes, snowshoeing and even running around town!
