FANTASTIC for group cooking
We used this on our recent camping trip to cook breakfast for 12 (and had left overs)... I used charcoal briquettes in the firepit, with about a dozen briquettes on top, and cooked up potatoes with sausage, cheese and added eggs. It was easy and tasted great on a cold morning. Cast iron dutch ovens are THE way to go for car camping: the extra mass makes it so easy to control the heat and cooking.

Perfect Dutch oven with legs and raised rim on lid. Ideal for using charcoal to manage temperature. 12" oven great for making pizza.
Great product however, price was little expensive
The oven is of fantastic quality and the function is outstanding. However the price was a little more expensive than elsewhere. The puchase price of an items is of a great importance to a Pack of Cub Scouts. We could have purchased the exact same type of Dutch Oven from the Boy Scout Store for only $69.00.The next question in this review is would recommend this product to a friend and our response is "YES" . However we would suggest they go to the Scout Store or search around for a better price. We do find products sold in your store are of premium costs, comparatively speaking.

A must for feeding more than 4 people
Recently bought and brought camping to the sand dunes in Colorado. We feasted like kings, epic breakfast scrambles in the morning and even did fried chicken for dinner. The Dutch oven is so heavy that you'd only want to use it for car camping. Great lifetime piece.
12" shallow
Was going to get a 10" deep to go with my 10" shallow but decided on this 12" shallow. Happy i did. It's larger than i expected but is a great size. If i were to only own one oven, it would be this 12" shallow. Most recipes seem to call for a 12". I anticipate the 10" will now mostly be used for breads and the 12" will handle the main dishes. I own around a dozen pieces of cast iron cookware and they are all Lodge. Will continue to buy more Lodge as the collection grows.
Use the Very Best
Lodge produces the very best Dutch Ovens! They come seasoned & ready to use. The walls are consistent in thickness & are multi-generational cookware, when treated & cared for as suggested! They may cost a few dollars more, but will be worth every penny!

Im an early bird. Out of the tent while the stars are still shinning. Ill have a sausage egg hashbrown pie ready before the sun cracks its dawn. No need hiking on an empty tank. 4 stars because i hate doing camp dishes.
A Classic Essential for the Car Camping Kitchen
This is a classic from Lodge. Well constructed and sturdy. Be sure to season
