After carefully reading many reviews, I decided to buy a four and two pound Yeti Ice blocks for my Yeti Tundra and Yeti Flip. I couldn't be happier. They work better than advertised. These blocks will draw in the cold from loose ice. On a recent vacation to the Florida Keys I had ice cubes completely frozen to the Yeti ice for four days. This was in a hotel room in the that was around 74 degrees. I had a similar experience with the four pound block and the smaller Yeti Flip at the Outer Banks. Here are a couple things I've learned about these blocks from other reviewers and my experience: 1. I don't think they are really meant to be a "stand alone" ice substitute. They work best (and I mean really well) when you combine the blocks with loose ice cubes. 2. I don't leave them in the freezer for extended periods of time. Overnight is probably all you need. I read too many reviews of them popping in a freezer. 3. I've already dropped the big one when it was frozen. It bounced and didn't leave a scratch. It's sturdy. I'm excited to use them over the summer when I need to keep the beers cold.

My experience with the yeti ice pack is not like other reviewers. Usually I use frozen small water bottles in my yeti cooler when canyoneering in the desserts of Utah and my water bottles still have ice in them after five days. This ice pack on the other hand was completely thawed out after 24 hours in the same yeti cooler. This was over Christmas break in Glenwood Springs when the ambient outside temperature was in the forties during the day and below freezing at night and the cooler was in the back of my truck the whole time. 24 hours and it's completely thawed out! I love my yeti cooler. It's worth every Franklin. The ice pack was returned.

Vegas Heat

I’m gonna give it to you straight. Buy now. I work 10/12 hours in Vegas heat. We clocked in at 107 today and it’s 9pm as I write this review and it’s still 98 degrees. Filled the cooler at about 5am. Cooler road on truck all day from 630am to 3pm today and sat in my car till 8pm tonight. Till I pulled it out and dumped the water. This is how full of ice it still was. Note : my cooler is not a yeti but a little smaller cause I use it for a lunch box. The yeti 20 is just a little to big. If yeti sold a like yeti 18. Or yeti 17. I would be all over them like a tornado in a trailer park. This yeti ice really packs a punch for your cooler. Like, super impressed. I will be getting the 4lb ASAP !!! Thanks yeti

Better than ice

I have 6 of these in different sizes. You can put them in a cooler on the bottom then put a layer of ice on top then beer or whatever you like then more ice. In a day or so there will be one solid block of frozen water and the yeti ice packs. The really are amazing. I can hold ice in my 50qt yeti cooler for well over a week with these in the bottom. This isn't the greatest pictures but you can see that it is solid ice in the middle of each ice pack.

As good as you'd expect

I used 4 of these in a large Yeti cooler, along with various other "blue ices" and commercial-grade reusable ice packs. None of these lasted more than 2 days, but still that's pretty good. Of all the types of ice packs, the Yeti ice packs lasted the longest. In general I'm not a fan of blue ice so much, but as far as it goes this was good. So 4 stars because it was better than other kinds I used but also it didn't last as long as I would hope, in general. Quick-freezing design is definitely effective. I think it's best for a day trip and not really designed for overnight camping so much.

Fits perfectly at the bottom of the YETI Roadie

Just as an FYI for anyone that has or is interested in a Roadie, the 4lb YETI ice fits perfectly in the bottom of the Roadie, wasting no space. I’m not sure why they don’t advertise that it fits perfectly. I’m sure they would sell a lot more. I plan to experiment to see if the one brick is cold enough alone or with a few ice cubes added. I am sure that it will be sufficient, but will update my review if I find that it’s not.

Best Ice Packs in the World!!!

These ice packs are worth every penny! The stuff in my Yeti cooler will end up actually FREEZING on a cool day. Plus, they don't bulge outward and end up leaking like cheap ice packs do. You won't have to keep replacing them every year due to wear and tear issues; and my boyfriend and I use them every day, so they get plenty of use. I dropped one once in just the right spot and the grey cap broke apart, but you can see underneath that it's sealed SOLIDLY. It doesn't leak at all. The cap is just for decoration and protection.

Froze inside my Tundra 35

I just purchased the new Yeti Ice 4lb unit this week and utilized for the first time last night for a family get together. I placed the Yeti Ice in the bottom of my Tundra 35 and placed an ample amount of adult beverages and ice on top for the festivities. This morning when cleaning out my cooler, I was physically unable to remove the Yeti Ice from my cooler! It was frozen solid to the cooler floor and subsequently froze the surrounding ice into one block with a few attached beverages. I had to literally run hot water over the contents for several minutes to break the seal between my cooler and the Yeti Ice. Amazing!!
