Very Unsatisfied
Purchased in early 2012, had for 11 months then the buttons stopped working. Sent to manufacturer for repair, got the new (fixed or replaced, not sure) watch. Worked for 18 months, buttons stopped working again. manufacturer refused to fix under warranty as my original purchase date was over 2 years. Now I have a very expensive bracelet that is useless to me. For an outdoor watch that is supposed to be rugged, this watch does not live up to its portrayed image. Also apparently manufacturer does not warranty their repairs, not good!
Good watch after month use
So did some research vs Casio and other. The wrist band is super comfortable. The altimeter and other functions work well and I enjoy the ability to use the button lock function as I was hitting buttons accidentally. Visibility in daylight for me has not been a problem. Just look at the watch head on and problem fixed. It would have 5 stars but, the temparuture just does not work well as it picks up to much of my body heat to be accurate. I think this is a function of the sensor and may not e better on any other watch.
Defective Build, Bad Customer Service
I bought this watch for occassional use on backpacking trips. Otherwise, I put the watch to sleep to avoid battery drain. Total time used was probably 5 or 6 days. Last month I used it in Colorado, and noticed condensation behind the crystal. It did go away in 24 hours, but I thought it was odd, and sent it in to the Service Center for them to have a look. even though Suunto phone support said that condensation is "normal". As mentioned, I never took the back off to change the battery, but I get a message from the service center in Ogden Utah that the O ring was damaged, causing a leak, and that the motherboard was damaged beyond repair. They offered a refurbished watch for $150.00. Seems like a scam to me, although technically the watch is out of warranty. To add insult to injury, their phone support suggests that I may have damaged the O ring by not changing the battery!!! That would mean that if a new watch is 'on the shelf' for over some period of time, it may be ruined!. REI should reconsider carrying this brand. I guess success sometimes ruins what was once a good brand. REI should take this a cautionary tale, since they sold and sell this kind of trendy junk. 6 days of use is all I got out of my $250.00 or so.
Great watch
This is a great watch. All the reviews indicate that he display is difficult to read in sunlight, and this is somewhat true, but I don't think it is to the extent everyone claims it to be. Viewing at a 90 degree angle, it's fine, as you head to 45 on down in the sunlight it does become more difficult, but I think you will have this problem to some extent with any negative display. I also own the Suunto Elementum Terra, which does have a better negative display, but it also costs $1000. I have never changed the battery in over a year, the compass and altitude seem to stay pretty accurate, and it keeps time well - mine is +/- 5 seconds a month. The backlight is pretty decent and makes it easily readable at night. I did have to speak with customer service because the rotating bezel was too loose/turned too easily for my taste and they emailed me a prepaid shipping label back to them, fixed it, and sent it back for free with a pretty quick turn around. They actually ended up replacing it. The replacement has had 0 problems. I don't feel the impression it is as durable as my gshocks, but it takes a pretty good beating and only rarely do I worry about it taking damage. Overall, I rate it 4/5 because I wish it was solar and I don't think it is as durable as a gshock, but it is a great watch and I would recommend it to anyone.
50/50
I've had it for a year. Comfortable on the wrist, hard glass that can take some punishment, reliable altimeter. On the negative, over-priced for what you get. Thermometer and compass are useless, need a replacement battery at this very moment and can't find where to buy. Amazon doesn't have them and Suunto site is out of stock, and that to me is unacceptable. Also, you'll have to increase the brightness on the display to make it half-way decent to see. This watch should cost between $120-$150 to buy. There are so many out there now that cost not much more than this one and offer par or better quality and features.
Poor display, terrible customer service
Ever try to look at you cell phone in bright sunlight? That's what the display on the Suunto Core looks like ALL THE TIME. To make matters worse, Suunto's customer service and tech support is among the worst I've ever experienced. This product looks cool, but that's where it stops. Do yourself a favor, keep looking.
Great when it works, but not reliable.
I purchased this watch for hiking and backpacking. The functionality was exactly what I wanted and I was very pleased. 19 months after I purchased the watch, 3 of the 5 buttons were non-responsive. I discovered this at the trail head of a weekend backpacking trip. Total failure when I needed the technology the most. Suunto replaced my watch since I was within my 2 year warranty window. Unfortunately, this is not the first review of the buttons failing.
Great looking update for the Suunto Core
No issues with screen visibility as others that are visually challenged have - but this is nice upgrade in terms of a cool-looking bezel and strap - to the existing Core watches. Customer Service has not been an issue for me in the past for strap changes either. Great products from Suunto.
Unsatisfied customer
Watch bands break easily, and front bezel broke not long after purchase. I was hoping for much better quality.
Looks nice
Had the watch a little over a year and wore it everyday. Had a few bumps with it (nothing that a $300 watch couldn't handle) but in that time i had to change the battery 3 times and I thought that was kinda weird but soon after the last swap 3 or the 4 buttons stopped working. I wanted to love this watch but a new battery every 3 or 4 months let's be real and the button stop working seems to be a common occurrence. I'd honestly look for something new
