Have used this tent for one summer season, four or five times, and it has worked out well. A three person tent at this price is not that common, I was skeptical, but it has turned out to be a good choice. It seems well made, no flaws in workmanship detected, an easy one person pitch, center height is decent, good air movement if fly is staked out properly. Many tents are of this design or similar, not my first preference but it works alright. Overall, I think it's a good value for the money. The tent is this old dudes 'car camper'.
I bought this tent when I decided to get back into camping after over 25 years. It is very simple for one person to erect and breakdown. In warm weather there is plenty of ventilation and in cold (I used in 30 degree weather) and windy weather, it holds up nicely. I have not used it in snow or rain. I use it while car camping as you'll want something lighter if you're backpacking. I'm 6'3" and fit while laying down, but if you're any taller, you will need to sleep diagonal. There is plenty of room inside for two people and gear. If you have a small child or dog as a third, that would work. My only knock is that the material feels thin. I use a tarp under the tent, but am (overly) paranoid about the floor tearing, but have had zero issues.
I've camped with this tent twice. The first time was in August, camping in the Grand Tetons. I was in a developed campground, on a gravel tent pad. I used a ground tarp. When I used the tent again over the weekend, I discovered some small holes on the floor. What a shame. Pros: Good price. Trusted brand. Easy to set up. Cons: Flimsy material. Tent floor not thick enough. This could easily tear if you happen to snag a thorn or heavy twig..
Great warm weather tent for car camping. Easy and quick to set up. Very roomy. Makes great "group shelter" during rainstorms.
Just received my Meramac 3 tent and I love it..took no time to install and the features are great. The tent floor is a little thin but will just compensate will a ground cover. The rain fly could extend a little farther over the entrances but that's minor. Well worth the money and a well thought out product.
