Terrific for road cycling!

I bought these for road cycling first and really like them. If you're familiar with road cycling, there's issues with sweat, lenses fogging up, slippage - non-existent with these sunglasses! They don't slip down my nose. They allow ample air flow through the top of the sunglasses while cycling to keep from fogging up. So far, I've only used the polar gold lenses and haven't switched out the other two lenses - maybe polar gold is all I need for daytime cycling. I can see these being good for trail/running and mountain biking, although I haven't used them for those activities. Very happy with this purchase.

Go-to shades for biking and trekking

Summary: Excellent optics, color undistorted, fits medium to small face width very well. Details: I wear them road and mountain biking, trekking, and driving. The Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is rated at 15%, making them great for low light, dappled, and shadowy situations. Smith says their polarized grey lenses are similar with VLT 14%. I feel these gold lenses let a lot more light in than their PG lenses. I have tried a lot of other brands including Maui Jim, Native, Rudy Project, and Tifosi. I prefer the Smith Parallel D Max over all. They do not fog over on me in cold situations. They may not be the best for sunny days on snow. In these situations I think they let too much light in. That's when I switch lenses to the polar grey. I use the clear lenses while biking great results. The close fit keeps the water out of my eyes biking in the rain, and my contacts from drying from wind on hot days.

Caution: Parallel Max D

I have let the workers at REI know, but yet to fix the problem. These are actually the Parallel Max D instead of the Parallel Max. The difference between the two is that the D has a larger lens. I have ordered the item twice in case the item I received was a fluke. I do not know if REI got the tags mixed up or is having logistical problems. I hope REI can resolve the issue or I will have to buy from a different vendor. Besides that the Parallel Max would have been 5 stars.
