We went on a 6 day canoe trip in the Boundary Waters and used this set exclusively. It's very light, fairly durable, very compact, and easy to clean. The bowls are not that durable. Using a knife left minor scratches on the plastic bowls. Wish they were a little more durable. Everything else if fairly sturdy and it's great to have everything compacted so easy and light. We also bought the fry pan separately and it fits on the bottom of this. All and all worth it. It would be nice if the cups were a little bigger. They only hold one cup. The cups have measurements on the inside which is nice though for measuring liquids. We used the dragonfly stove and it boiled water using the pots here super fast. Under 3 minutes for a couple cups.

Good but not great

I got this stove for packing with my boyfriend, I loved how much stuff can fit into this set (my pocket rocket 2, with matches, lighter, sporks all fit inside as well). The good: The actual pots seem to be good quality and non-stick, having two sizes is nice The bad: The owls and mugs are not the best quality and not insulated well. Since the bowls are wide and so shallow, expect your food to get cold within 2 minutes.

My Favorite Cookware so far!

I took this on a two month bike trip across the US, and it was great. I was with one other person, we camped and cooked at least two meals nearly every day. The pots held up great, stayed non-stick, and it's all super light and easy to pack. Sometimes the pot-handles on cook-kits are really flimsy, but the one in this kit is great. It's sturdy, and easy to switch between pots while cooking. The lids on the cups you use more than you might think, as it really keeps your coffee/tea warm on those cold morning. Also the bowls really hold a lot of volume, which is nice on those trips where your caloric intake really goes up and you need bigger bowls of oatmeal in the mornings! We used this with the MSR Whisperlite stove. The size and balance was great.

Pack Tight Eat Right

We have had this set now since 2009. Its got a great design to save space and perfect for various styles of trips. We bring the smaller pot with us probably half of the time, depends on what meals we are planning (multiple courses, water for hot coco) otherwise when we do remove the smaller pot then we can store our coffee, hot coco, tea, and various other items so its helpful on organizing and utilizing storage space. We lost one of the bowls off our trailer one hunting trip and we were able to replace it without a hiccup. Super easy and efficient. We love this set. Thats also why my sister and brother-in-law, brother, and 2 cousins also have the set now.

Lasted over ten years and still being used. Highly recommended!

This set is one of the very first set of items I bought over ten years ago since I started hiking/camping and yet still being used regularly. It is not perfect, the red plastic ring around the lid handle plastic broke years ago but the lid lift handle itself remains. The bottom of the main pot bumped up a bit but that is acceptable since it is a lightweight design. Everything else are going great. The Talon handle is perfectly rigid and foldable. I recently bought a MSR water kettle and it fits perfectly inside the cook set with the insulated cups removed. I highly recommend this product and would be very happy if I can get a piece of the broken red plastic ring replaced.

simple and easy

got this to compliment my stove and turn it into a lightweight system. after getting it and checking the weight on it I realized that I had more than I asked for. superlight, sturdy, durable, and, to put it bluntly, idiot proof. ive used it more since I got it than I ever thought. both on the trail and at the house. making one person meals are what this was designed for but in a pinch it can be used for a 2-person meal very easily. its great for making tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, as well as pasta for one (something im notorious about). anyone wanting a simple system should go to this.

A Good Kit That Could Be Improved

I use this kit backcountry skiing and backpacking, with either my MSR Dragonfly or Pocket Rocket. It works great for two or three folks on the trail. I have never have found use for the bowls that are included in the kit. I prefer to take a separate bowl with a lid that I can re-hydrate dried food in or put the lid on to keep food warm while I prepare the rest of the meal. The mugs are useful and nest well. The major improvement that could be made to this kit would be to provide a handle and lid that will pack well with just the small pot. This addition would make this a great kit, with the flexibility to be used as a solo kit. It disappoints me that MSR has chosen instead only offer a separate kit for solo hiking.

Love it!

Its great, use the 2L on 100% of the camping trips I do and wouldnt use anything else. Works great for 2-4 people, and have done up to 5-6 people with dinner done in 2 installements. -Non-stick is an understatement, its great!! -durable! -after 5y its only starting to flake on the upper lip where i scrape the pot lid against it. -Dont use metal utensils. -Doesnt quite fit a Dragonfly stove inside, even though it advertises it!!! < -- biggest pet peeve. -Couples great with the bowl-plates sold by MSR! Dont really use the smaller pot.
