Featherweight, rain resistant windbreaker
Off Trail Woman

I love this jacket. It's light as a feather, excellent as a rain jacket and as a windbreaker. Here in central NC, it's a three-season jacket. Some ventilation is built in, but of course as would be the case with anything designed to repel rain and keep a person dry, it's not as breathable as a plain jacket might be...but then it wouldn't keep the rain off as well, would it? It's plenty breathable enough for me. The sizing is on target. The pockets are very roomy. Velcro allows for adjusting the sleeve width at wrist as well as providing for secure fit at the throat. The right-hand pocket has a double-sided zipper, so by turning the pocket inside out, it becomes a zippered self-case for stowing in a pack. So far I've taken it on the trail and out on my kayak to pull on against the breeze on the water, and I wear it just kicking around town running errands too. My boyfriend liked my jacket so much that I ordered him the men's jacket, same style. He's delighted with his, too.

Dark Violet is more like lavender

I bought this rain jacket for a summer cruise to Alaska, but when it arrived the color was all wrong for me. I ordered the Dark Violet which is quite dark online, but in actuality it's a light purple, like a lavender, which is just all wrong for me. The sizing was right (I'm a 6-8, but ordered a Large to wear it over fleeces), and the quality seemed as good as more expensive jackets. In the end, I'm returning it because this color simply looks goofy on me and is not as pictured.

Yes, the dark violet is lavender

I needed a rain jacket to take with me to concerts. I wasn't looking for anything fancy, just a standard rain jacket that would keep me dry and warm. This jacket definitely does the job, I like it. It is not fancy at all and yes, the dark violet color is really more of a lavender / light purple. I wasn't bothered by the color and was actually prepared to receive the wrong color because of the previous review. So thank you TravlGrl12!

Just right.

Bought this jacket for my daughter. She reports it works great in most rainy situations. She packed it every day during camp, and didn't take-up too much room.

Pretty cheap

I purchased this jacket about a month ago and I have only worn it a handful of times. This morning the pocket tore away from the jacket just by putting my hand inside and the fabric constantly gets stuck in the zipper. Yes, it is light weight and versatile, but I expect higher quality when I'm shopping at REI.

Great Coat

I liked this coat so much I gave the first one I bought to my daughter and bought a second one! I love how the hood has a little bit of elastic it in so it stays on your head and won't fall off when the wind blows It is lightweight and roomy. If you need a second layer, you could very easily do that without the sleeves being too tight. It's very easy to pack up into the pocket. However, I do not consider this "thigh length". The jacket just barely covers my butt. For comparison, I am 5'6" and busty and have a size L. Also., the actual color of clearwater is more of light mint or seafoam green. I have also read this is an issue with the purple. Be aware that the colors may be lighter than the image shows.

Great waterproof shell

This jacket fits my needs perfectly, just a waterproof layer to be covered from all these spring rains California has been having. I got a large to wear over sweaters on colder days. It is pretty much just a shell and isn't very comfortable on the inside but if you don't want something too warm it is great. Have yet to test it's wind and ventilating aspects. Has convenient mesh inside pockets and the whole jacket stuffs into one of the pockets so it's easy to bring along just in case it rains!

loved it at first....

I bought this jacket about a year ago now, and for the first 6 months or so, I had no complaints, however, after one particularly hard rain when I was stuck outdoors, the jacket stopped wicking water and now just soaks it up.. Needless to say, I'm on the hunt for a new rain jacket.

Seems great but beware on sizing if you're tall

This seems like a great jacket but the sleeves are short and it's a bit snug across the shoulders. The chest, waist, hips are true to size. I'm tall at 5'10" and 145 lb. and wear a medium. I'm bummed since the periblue color is attractive. If you're tall you may want to buy a bigger size (and swim in the torso area) or buy a men's which is what I'm going to do. Nice lightweight jacket with deep zippered pockets.

Good value

It seems like it will do the job. I'm taking it on a trip where it rains half the time. It is a little on the small size around the chest and waist. I'm short and it hits mid hip, not thigh! The grape color is actually mauve.
