Face plate came apart
I have had many of these watch while running marathons, half marathons and run-commuting to work for the last 25+ years. This latest watch started to have an issue develop on the faceplate where the buttons are located. It started to lift off and became unglued to the point that it detached. I was hoping to find a replacement plate somewhere to make it more secure and protect the buttons as one of them, the start/split, can easily get caught on a sleeve and I am afraid to wreak it.
Great Watch - Poor Wrist Band
The watch itself is great for running, timing intervals, splits, etc... The watch face scratches easily, but more importantly the watch band is irreplaceable due to the design. The watch band usually lasts me about 12-18 months before breaking. I keep telling myself I won't go back to timex, the wrist band is the weak link and essentially makes this a disposable watch. Timex needs to start selling replacement wrist bands.
An excellent watch
This is the third Ironman watch I have purchased from REI in the last 25-30 years or so. They are excellent watches, easy to change the battery (which I do not do myself, but take to a watch shop). The first one died of old age, the second watch still works, but the watch band failed. Timex has a terrible website for dealing with such matters and sent me, per my explicit instructions, the wrong band size and, I think, the wrong material. I accept responsibility for requesting the wrong item, but rather that order a second incorrect item, I decided to simply purchase a new watch. They are not that expensive and cost about $5 to $6 dollars per year when averaged over life usage.
Not water proof anymore
I had a similar watch before that lasted many years through races, including triathlons, so I was excited to get this but unfortunately, this one broke after three days due to water damage from showering.
Great dependable rugged watch
Just bought this watch to replace one just like it. The previous watch worked fine but with wear and tear, the black front plastic covering peeled off after 5 years. I've worn these watches for the past 25+ years. The numerals are easy to read. In a dark area the indiglo feature make it easy to read the time. When this watch wears out I'll definitely get another like it.
Very durable and accurate.
In June of 2016 I found this watch in the gravel parking lot while attending a baseball game. It looked as though it may have gotten ran over but to my surprise it was still running, showing the correct time and date. I threw it in the center console of my truck and didn’t think anything more about it. Today 6-14-2021, I was cleaning out my truck and discovered the watch again. I was amazed to see that it was still showing the correct time and date! I was so impressed that I am now going to start wearing it!! Most Impressed!
Watch OK but not as good as the Flix
I got this to replace the Flix model of which I had two. Both died after the battery was replaced, one by me and one by a jeweler, because they lost their waterproofing. I wanted a watch with large digits that I can see while swimming; both suffice for that. The strap on this model is very tight and thus inconvenient since I have to remove and put it on again before and after workouts. The strap on the Flix model did not have this problem.
Love the Watch, so-so on the band
I purchased the watch so as I could keep up with my lap times when walking. It does that fine and is easy to read even though my eyes are old. However, the watch band does not get as small as I would like. I purchased a woman's watch (T5E9019J) after I was told that the watch band on women's watches would be smaller than the men's watch. What I found out is that, at least for the IRONMAN watch, that does not seem to comply with what I was told. My wrist is very small and at present, I am at the last notch in the band and it is still a little loose. So as stated, I like the watch but the band is still a little loose.
decent watch
I am a soccer referee and use the watch as a stop watch. It beeps at the end of the period which is very usefull so I dont have to constantly glance at my watch. I also use the product for every day use. I have used it in heavy rain and even in the shower, but I have not and will not submerge it, why take the risk? Numbers are big enough to see, it has a button to use to see the numbers in the dark. For [$] its ok
Terrible watch
Went on one 22 mile hike, came back and the light stopped working and the glass was foggy. Actual watch functions where ok. Didn't like the fact that the customer service rep at REI told me that it was normal and tried to get me to change my mind on asking for a refund. They did take care of the issue. It will be a long time before I give Timex a chance again.
