Good fit in a 2015 CR-V
Fits on my 2015 Honda CR-V and allows the rear hatch to open without touching the cargo box. The CR-V is poorly designed with fixed cross bar locations so it is a pain to fit any old cargo box. That should mean it will fit 2012 to 2016 CR-Vs. I cannot speak beyond the 2016’s because I think they did a significant revision to the CR-V for 2017. My old Thule would not fit without the hatch hitting the box. This Yakima fits with plenty of clearance, I can actually move it forward and have about 6 inches of clearance. My 161cm snowboard inside it’s bag fits with some room to spare (length wise).
Does the job.
As long as the rails on your vehicle are pretty much set for the rack to slide on it will be an easy install. It is adjustable enough to accommodate most rails. If your rails also must be adjusted then that increases installation time. Light enough for one person install but 100% easier to install with two people one on each side. Construction seems rather flimsy but this is my first rack. Fits nicely on my Subaru Baja but now have to be careful of overhead garage door opener. You will need to line the interior with a grippy material otherwise things slide around. Two sided access is a benefit. Downside, I can't go through a car wash, up side I can find my vehicle easier in a crowded parking lot.
Complete satisfaction has never felt so good!
Perfect fit for a Subi crosstrek. Won’t handle skis longer than about 170 cm, but I keep my 184 cm skis and equipment inside the car during transit anyway. If you’re on the fence choosing between the SportRack brand and the Yakima brand cartop carrier, do yourself a favor: spend a little more and get the Yakima. The dual side opening and quick attachment mechanism are worth it. Also you’ll barely know the carrier is there with almost no discernible wind noise and little effect on mpg, so be careful you don’t forget and try to enter a low garage accidentally while it’s attached.
After Doing the Research this is the one!
We bought the Yakima RocketBox 14 Pro for our 2014 Honda CRV after checking out all the competition. It was the perfect size. Fit on our original Honda brackets and didn't touch the antennae or impede us from opening the back door. Went through a rain storm on our 11 trip to the beach. Easy to hook on, secure with locks on both sides, and didn't move around or make noise. Saved us so much room inside! We are very thankful that REI was able to get it delivered to their store in time...and actually arrived a day early. They also came outside and showed us how to put it on our vehicle and gave us a few tips. What service!!!!! This is the one you want!
Everything fits!
After winter drive Portland, OR to Portland, ME I can’t recommend enough. Easy access on both sides. Not too much wind noise.
Yakima may not be proud
Yakima may not be proud of their product. Upon opening the box in the parking lot of REI, all the badging appeared to be loose. With very minimal effort, all of it peal off, and very cleanly. It's as if they don't want anyone to know what roof cargo box you actually have. The design and appearance are great with very easy installation. Probably even easier next time now that the clamps are set in position. I chose this to replace my Pulse M since both sides open (I have short arms and the reach is pretty much for installing). I'll give this a go and decide which box I really want to keep. I'm sad the badges came off so easily. If the keys and instructions didn't say Yakima, I'd think I bought this from TEMU
Does its job (2016 Subaru Impreza Hatchback)
Does exactly what you would expect and it is even big enough to fit my skis in. Fits perfectly on a 2016 Subaru Impreza with the stock aerodynamic roof rack without causing any issues with the hatchback. The fact that it opens from both sides is great. I've had older versions of these boxes and I really like the fact that using the key to unlock the box no longer opens the box as well, a button press is also needed. I ordered this as ship-to-store, which was great because they take care of all the packaging and put it on top of the car for you. No cleanup!
Have owned less than 2 weeks & already .....
replaced by Yakima for leakage from rain while sitting in my driveway & then the 2nd new box did the same thing again last night. I understand that the box is not entirely waterproof but darn the car was not even moving & rocketboxes were straight out of the box. Disappointing!! for a new product at this price-point. The person I spoke with @ Yakima suggested it could be defective rivets but then when the store communicated with warranty person she said that amount of H2O was "normal" while driving. I reminded the store that I was NOT driving at the time H2O collected the the rocketbox. FYI- There are no drainage holes to get the water out so be prepared to climb up with towels & don't put anything up top that you don't want wet.
Easy to use
I chose this box because I thought the dimensions offers the most versatility when it comes to cargo. I have packed a jogging stroller, beach gear, and camping gear and I have only had it for a month. I had used a Thule roof bag for years and was quite happy with it, but I wanted something with more structure that could be locked for trips when the gear needed to be left on the roof "unsupervised". I was able to assemble and attach the box in about 20 minutes by myself, I am 6'4" so I am able to get the box on the roof alone without a problem. Now that the clamps are set to match up with my roof rack, attaching and removing is done in under 5 minutes. I like that the box can be opened from either side and that the key cannot be removed while the box is open. After seeing someone with a crunched box, I have a note taped to the dashboard with the combined height of my vehicle with the box so I don't make the same mistake.
Fits well; Works well
Well, after 4000 miles from CA to CO, WY and back here's a report...This box fits a 2012 Outback (factory roof rack) nicely; Wind noise is noticable, but nothing serious, although it's our first roof box and we have no basis for comparison. We hit a couple rain storms while driving and never found water inside; However, now that we're back on the foggy/drizzly CA coast, we have noticed *small* amounts of water inside the bottom of the nose - not sure how this is accumulating... The only other issue worth noting is this: One time (just once, mid-trip) when we opened it, the bracket in the nose had slipped loose. This bracket is a user-assembled connection (where the red arrows align), but it seemed secure when we first put it together, and the connection is secure at this time. Fortunately, the nose bracket is not a lock point, so the box was always secure. Maybe the plastic slide-lock connection was loosened by the day's heat (?) - Anyhow, we're not going to let that get in the way of a positive recommendation :-) All in all, we're happy with it!!
