Design Flaw
Great pair of sunglasses. However, this will be the 3rd time I have sent them in for repair. The lenses on these glasses WILL crack near the temple and the nose about every few years with gentle wear. The pressure on the lenses of just wearing them eventually cause the lenses to crack. This is a design flaw hopefully one day Maui Jim fixes this.
Great for outdoors, truly unisex
I'm a woman and these sunglasses are truly unisex. Sometimes when my husband forgets his sunglasses, he borrows these and they fit and look just as good. I needed sunglasses for sand volleyball which is no easy task since there's a lot of diving and sand that scratches. I got another pair that just scratched too easily so I returned them to REI and got these. They are great. Haven't gotten scratched yet and stays in place when I play or run. I don't think they're the trendiest sunglasses but they don't look terrible by any means.
Probably my favorite pair of Maui Jims
I have four pairs of Maui Jim rimless sunglasses, including titanium, Grilamid, and nylon frames. This Lighthouse pair was the least expensive of them all, but they are my favorite. The nylon frames are as lightweight as the titanium frames, and they fold up even more compactly than the Ho-okipa Grilamid pair that has the same base curve. So they hang flat from the loop on my fishing shirt with no fear of falling. The shape is also dynamite: Big wraparound lenses that aren't too big or overwhelming, with a very slightly "flatter" profile that looks great.
Great product for active pursuits
I bought these glasses (dark grey lens) to wear under hats while golfing and fly fishing. I have other polarized glasses but the frames are too big to wear under a ball cap and they end up killing my ears and temples after a long day on the course or the river. These Maui Jims remedy that issue completely as the stems are very thin and light weight and lenses still provide excellent clarity in bright conditions which is key to sight fishing. The only issue is that I always need a cleaning rag with me as the lenses do get smudged very easily. Overall though, they are awesome! Highly recommend.
Amazing while they last
Super lightweight and stable on my face. I love the HT lenses for general daily wear. They increase contrast, have great polarization, and are super versatile in that the same lenses can be worn all day as the lighting conditions shift from dawn, to full sun, to cloud cover, to dusk. They were my go-to fishing glasses for this reason. Unfortunately the lenses broke right where other reviewers have stated: Where the bridge meets the lens. Mine did this spontaneously after about 3 years of use, without any physical stressing. I sent them back to MJ and will update the review with what my outcome is... These are technically out of warranty but I feel that this is a design flaw and I know with 100% certainty that I babied these glasses at all times.
The BEST sunglasses ever!
I needed to replace my pair of Maui Jim's that I purchased over 30 years ago. I looked at a great many different styles and finally decided on the "Lighthouse" style. They are extremely light, comfortable and very stylish. They offer fantastic protection against glare as well as enhancing visual clarity. I use/wear them most often when I am driving. I would easily recommend this pair specifically, and the brand in general. Here's to another 30+ years of wear!
Never-EVER Get Rid of This Design Maui Jim! Ever!
Best pair of sunglasses I've ever owned. I'm on my 4th? 5th pair? Multiple purchases have been cause sadly I've broken several over the past decade. I've lost one. Then found it. I would be lost without these sunglasses. I seriously would be inconsolable if Maui Jim ever got rid of this design. Incredibly light weight. Great on polarization. No, it's not good for sun that comes in from the top or sides, but most sunglasses don't protect against that. Fantastic for both driving and hiking. Activities I do lots and lots. It is worth the price, however, I purchase it when REI has 20% off one regular priced item sale and keep a backup pair in stock in my closet.
Exact Best Sunglasses Ever
Not a sunglass guy at all, yet I have tried many pairs over the years and had limited satisfaction. My preference is extremely light (vs heavy), face hugging glasses with a high quality lens. After many, many years I found them Maui Jim Lighthouse sun glasses!!! They are the lightest glasses I have ever found, the quality is amazing, such that my wife has sat on them a couple of times in the car, but no issues and the lens is perfectly clear, perfect polarized lens that allows beautiful colors yet protects my eyes. I am not a sunglasses guy, but only for Maui Jim (Lighthouse) glasses!! Thanks Maui Jim!!!!

awesome glasses: i wanted more aviator type lenses as i have some ray ban's and love them but these do the job. Especially how awesome it is that they are flexible and dont bend!
Blown away by the Quality
I have had my pair of Lighthouses for 7 years now. I generally take good care of my glasses but have dropped them from time to time and they have landed on the lens more than once. Only recently did I get a small scratch on the lens. You can't see it when looking at it, but you can see the light filter through the lens. I even accidentally smacked myself in the face with the sun visor in the car about 5 years ago now and it made a small crack in the lens between the outer edge and the arm attachment, but it must have cracked within the lens because it it still smooth and I have continued to wear them for the last 5 years with no spreading of the crack or issues of any other kind. They are super light weight, which I love, and look really nice. I do have very sensitive eyes to sunlight and I like how these wrap around my face a bit. I bought the brown lenses and am getting ready to buy a 2nd pair of lighthouses and will do the darker lenses this time.
