Great waterproof case

This is a great little case with one minor flaw. I can't believe how poorly others have rated this. I keep this case in the pocket of my pfd to store car keys and sometimes my cell phone or two. I run a lot of capsize drills for my sailing club, so I'm spending about 40 minutes at a time mostly swimming in a lake with this case submerged a few inches underwater (many dry bags/cases don't allow submerging). I've never had an issue with it leaking. The top enclosure is straightforward and seems to be designed to prevent doing it wrong. Just keep folding to line up the inner Velcro. It's very secure. Someone complained about condensation, but if you get water in a bag that doesn't let water in or out, that's going to happen when its warm outside. Keep the moisture out of the bag if you don't want condensation. There's likely no such thing as a submersible bag that lets condensation out. The one flaw is the strap system. I'll quote Big Al's review and I can confirm the behavior "The cord is very slick and even with the cord threaded through and doubled back, through the clip, the cord slipped out!". That reviewer returned it and went with a different option. I simply used an easy to tie water knot instead of their clips. It's been very secure. I took a star off, because of the strap system. Someone that doesn't know better could easily have the bag fall in the water.

REI Should Be Embarassed Selling This Item

Bought this item last week to replace a case to hold my phone that lasted many years. Seemed a bit flimsy however I was already in REI buying other items. Tried it for the first time today and almost lost my phone in the water! The bag comes with 2 clips to hold the flat black cord. The cord is very slick and even with the cord threaded through and doubled back, through the clip, the cord slipped out! If I was standing up I would have lost my phone in a river. Luckily I was sitting in my kayak and fell in my lap. This product is not worth ANY price. For the same money I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought a Field and Stream waterproof accessory case made with a thicker grade of plastic, a thicker non slipping cord that uses a small "ball" locking clip with the cord ends secured together and a double zip close seal. The Dick's bag also is made to float in water and has a glow stick! Same money, no comparison in quality. C'mon REI, why are you selling this trash!!! Will be returning this item for a FULL REFUND. Did REI even bother to test this product before offering for sale?

Clearest photos

I've tried many other waterproof cases, but this is by far the best. Roomy enough to hold my phone & other items, it is also clear enough to take great pics/video without removing my phone. I even got a call the other day while I was out kayaking and the caller was able to hear me clearly without removing the phone! That was amazing!

Love this case.

Replaced some slightly bigger dry bags with these and couldn't be happier with my purchases. They're light weight, durable and give me the amount of room that I need.

Thin plastic

The plastic tore when I stowed it at the side of my kayak seat. Also in warm weather the plastic tended to stick to my phone, making it hard to remove from the case.

Great quality

Perfect size for keys, Kleenex, and smaller items you don’t want to get wet. Well made. I like that you can easily stick in your life jacket pocket or wear around your neck for easy access while paddling.

Velcro stops sticking over time

My partner and I have each have one of these for our phones and we have a third one, larger size, that we use to keep our first aid kit in. We use them when kayak fishing and in the outdoors hiking or mountain biking. We have always found them to be water proof and have not had a problem with holes in the plastic. However, with regular use, over time the Velcro fastening stops sticking and no longer holds the top closed. We have taken to securing them with a bulldog clip. This is pretty frustrating. It would be great to see a design without Velcro. Perhaps a slide attachment like the hydration bladders use?

It's either defective, missing a piece, or poorly designed.

Got this case, size small as a Christmas gift. There are no instructions on how to use it, or videos on how to use it. It doesn't seal at all. It's too small to be really that useful either. I fold it over and attach the velcro tabs, but then it just unrolls itself. I think I could make it work with a pair of Gator clips (one on each side) to keep it from unrolling. You would think it should do that on its own with our having to add pieces to it. So yeah, thumbs down here. It not returnable, so I'm going to trash this one and go buy another brand. Good luck all.

Would have returned if I could!

So, I gave this 2 stars because it is actually waterproof. But I lost the bag along with my phone inside it :( during the first trip I used this bag. The neck string is super flimsy and it tore off my neck when I slipped and dragged a bit against the rocks next to a waterfall. The bag and the phone fell into the gorge and drowned...
