Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

I purchased these pants to go on a hike to 3 Sisters Waterfall in SD County. Although it was 100 degrees out, these pants kept me cool and protected me from the poison oak. They fit really well, stretch when scrambling over boulders, dry quickly after jumping into the falls, and cleaned up nice after a wash. I liked them so much I bought another pair! For being "hiking" pants, these fit great and are very stylish - something hard to find when you're buying "hiking" clothes! I'm 5'1" and weigh 105, and I bought both sizes 0 and 2 and they both fit well. Although a little long for me, over hiking boots, there weren't any problems w/ the length.

Best pants I have ever owned

I don't write product reviews very often, but these pants were so fantastic that I was inspired to post something. I am 5'5" and 115 lbs, and these pants fit me better than any other pants I've ever tried on. The inseam is the perfect length, they don't pucker around the crotch the way a lot of other pants do, and they look elegant and professional. I have a pretty small butt, so most other pants that fit my hips and waste end up looking too baggy on me, but not these! I bought both colors and have been wearing them every day through the current 95+ degree heatwave, and they are super light and breathable. I love that I can wear them both for hiking or out to a nice dinner! I really wish REI made them in more colors!

I wore these pants while hiking both in Hawaii and Alaska, and on my flight back from Alaska. I haven't had any problems with chafing, and I really like the fit. Granted, there were other pants REI brand pants that fit me horribly, so everyone's fit is going to be a bit different. The material was light and stretchy, so it even fit fine when I wore long underwear underneath, and flexed nicely while when I was hiking. The only complaint I have about these pants is that they don't wash well. Some dirt on the knee didn't come out in one wash, and the color appears to run, because it's now uneven near the hemline. But I love the pants so I won't return them! I generally wear a 4 or 6 in pants and the 6 fit me snugly (a good kind of snug). Also, I'm 5'8" and the length of the regular is perfect for me.

I love these and ordered them in another color even though they weren't on sale! They do get a bit baggy the second day you wear them, but I found them still to look OK. I live in the tropics and like that they are cool. I haven't looked at them since they were washed, so I can't comment on that. I am a size 16 and found these to be very flattering and easy to wear, which isn't always the case for me.

I almost bought these at REI, but was hoping to find them in tan. The fit felt great, and I love the lightweight and breathable fabric. Since I didn't buy these, I can't comment on regular use or how they hold up in the wash. REI, please consider making these in tan next season. Thanks! :)

I have only worn these pants a couple of times and I am curious to see how the material will hold up since it is pretty thin. So far though they are great. They are the perfect pant for casual hiking and I plan on wearing them for all my hikes.

These pants are super light weight and soft feeling. Would be great for a warm weather place. The actual waist is too wide for me. The hips and other parts fit well, but length is a little short. The brown color is great.

These pants are very comfortable and soft. They are light weight and pack easily. They don't shrink when they are washed and don't stretch out when worn. I like that they cover my back area when I crouch down. Enjoy!

Numerous Design Issues

I took these pants on a two week vacation to Europe and found a couple of issues. First there are two seams right on the inside of the thigh which rubbed constantly on my skin, causing me to need to 1. Find a belt to keep the inseam from getting too low and 2. wearing a pair of spandex shorts under the pants. As for the length, at 5' 6" I should have been able to wear the regulars no problem but with a pair of Mary Jane's the pants kept dragging on the ground so I had to fold them to the hemline (which still barely kept them off the ground). Also, I don't believe the review about the hemline being "mid"- it seemed too high. I suspect many of these problems came from the fact that, after wearing these pants for even just two days without washing them, the material stretches considerably, causing all of the alignment issues I explained above. For this I think I'd rather stick to pants that are a thicker cotton blend. My recommendation to REI is they find a fabric blend that will stretch less and perhaps consider adding "button-tab closures" to the waistline as well so the wearer can tighten the waist as needed. And perhaps include pockets on the thighs. Oh, and more colors :) Pros: The pants were quiet (not noisy like nylon!), LOVED the secret pocket, and had good ventilation.
