Good Pump, Confusing for Beginner
I appreciate that this pump gets the tire almost fully pumped very quickly and is easy to carry around. As a first time user though, I didn't realize you had to invert the small part at the tip of the pump to switch it to a presta tip. So I accidentally deflated my bike tire and had to spend an hour trying to figure out how to get the pump to work. The diagrams on the packaging have no words and are not very informative. I would definitely recommend this pump, but if you are new to this it'd be helpful to look up videos on how to change the head on a Topeak pump.
Like it so much I bought a 2nd one!
Like it so much I bought a 2nd one. It pumps and works for Schrader and Presta, once you watch the youtube video to see how to loosen the cap, lift the lever then pull out the parts and flip them. Does pretty good pressure and fits well on my frame or in a bag.
good small frame pump for low pressure
If your use case calls for a small frame mounted pump for low pressure tires in emergencies, then this is a good pump. Although you might want an even smaller pump, I do not see how you can go any smaller without making it impossible to pump. It seems just the right size for pumping up in emergencies in the field, just to get you home. For high pressure road tires, you will struggle with the last strokes, so I cannot see it working better than compressed air in those cases.
reliable but for low pressure
Can't beat the reliability and simplicity of a pump. Never run out of CO2 cartridges. Have to balance this against the bulkiness of a pump, though. Never was able to pump high pressure road tires so I use it on my low pressure MTB. Need to get creative with the mount because it gets in the way if mounted to the side of the bottle holder, like advertised.
Warning but also it’s ok(?)
Don’t even think about using it’s included bottle cage mount. The Velcro strap that holds it is far too slippery for any amount of riding. I learned because it came loose and catched in my pedal stroke and sent me flying. Keep it in a bag. It’s an ok pump it can bend valve core so be mindful of that
Works great! Even on Presta pump!
Saw a review that you couldn’t use it on presta style valves. It’s not obvious at all but a little YouTube search show you how to convert it. Then it works great. Don’t blame them for not knowing. I happened across it. Got a brand new bike with presta valves which I’d never seen before. This little guy is the only thing I own that will inflate it.
This pump is one of the best
I use this pump in my travels, it is light weight, very powerful, my travel partners always ask for my pump when they need to inflate a tire, they prefer to use my pump than their own pump.
Great Pump
Love this pump. The ONLY negative is that it doesn't have a pressure gauge and can be hard to pump in the last few psi. Gives your forearms a workout. This is my go to pump. I absolutely love it otherwise.
Simple and reliable
This is an incredible tool for the money. Would highly recommend to someone just getting into the sport. Great for low pressure applications, but I've event successfully filled up 25 mm road tires to sufficient pressure (~90psi) to get home. I even managed to seat a 27.5+ mtb tubeless tire using ONLY this pump-- so the volume it can deliver if you're ready for an arm workout is formidable. Two complaints: (1) the mounting bracket does not work on some wide tubing. (2) the dust cover doesn't really fit in the presta valve set up
Solid value
Gets the job done! It’s a little heavy and bulky but the trade off is a pump that will inflate a tire in a pinch without breaking your arm. I’ve already used it on a bike packing trip-had a flat and this pump got me sufficient inflation to keep going on a new tube. A solid buy for the money.
