Comfy but leaky

I really want to love this pad, but I just cant get the darn thing to hold air. The first couple nights I spent on it were on a hotel floor and I was so happy with how comfortable it was. Since I got it out in nature though, I cannot get through a night without having to inflate it a couple of times. Now before every trip I go through the full leak test by dunking it in the bath tub and patching any holes I find. I do not feel that I have been overly hard on the pad, it has been on some long trips but nothing I would consider abusive. Despite patching numerous pin holes, it still seems to leak. Maybe I just got a dud...

Comfortable Sleeping Pad, and Light.

I used this sleeping pad for the first time roughly a month ago. To say the least, it was easy to use, and very comfortable to sleep on. I have no complaints. It's perfect for minimalist camping trips. The next test will be my snow camping trip this winter. I don't forsee and problems with it, but it will be nice to see how it retains warmth. The only hassle I had with it is rolling it up for storage, but I'm sure I can practice to get it stuffed right without any difficulty. I definitely recommend this sleeping pad. I will add, the stuff sack should be included for the price.

Best pad on the market!

There is a reason this pad is the number one selling pad for backpackers. It is the perfect mix of weight, durability, size, value and comfort, and it is made in the U.S.A.! Sure it doesn't come with a stuff sack, but after being involved in outdoor sports for a number of years I have about a hundred stuff sacks. I would rather Therm-a-Rest keeps making their pads in Seattle than throw in a stuff sack with my purchase. This pad is comfortable enough to use for multiple nights backpacking, and the weight is as low as some of the pool float pads. Get this pad!

Unroll a great night's sleep

This pad is exactly what you'd expect at this price point - it's compact, (relatively) light, and quite comfortable. Inflation seems acceptably quick, and it takes only a few puffs of breath to top off. My wife and I recently tested these out on a car camping trip in the north Georgia and slept wonderfully. My only nitpick is that extracting the air and rolling up the pad takes a little bit longer than I'd like. I'm not sure that there's any way around that though (on any self-inflating pad), which is why I'm giving this 5 stars.

Light, warm, comfortable

I was looking for something a bit warmer than my old ProLite 3 for below-freezing weather. This one is much warmer -- I had to put a foamie under the old PL3 when the temperature was below freezing, this does the job by itself. Yet it's only 2 ounces heavier than my old ProLite 3. It's also easier to inflate -- it mostly inflates itself, needing only a few puffs of air, if you leave it with the valve open in your tent while you cook supper -- and quite comfortable for a backpacking air mattress. For me, it's the perfect compromise between ultimate lightness and ultimate comfort -- it may be heavier than stacked blue foamies with the same insulating value, but is far, far more comfortable, while not being as heavy as a full-fledged car-camping mattress.

very nice pad

Therm-a-rest pads are definitely towards the top end of backpacking gear. Lightweight and compact, while warm and comfortable. They are ideal for multiple applications. My only qualm is that my pad recently popped two pin holes. I usually sleep in a tent and have only had this pad for a couple of years, so it hasn't received heavy use. The only reason I can think of is that the one I purchased was refurbished, although that is not supposed to effect performance. I would definitely recommend getting a patch kit for long trips.

Best hiking matress

This mattress is super comfortable, light weight, and easy to deflate. The only trouble I had was when it rained and I slid off into a puddle, other then that when you lay it out in the sun dries in about 5 minutes! Trick: to deflate roll it up just like you would to put it in a sack and then kneel on it until you hear no more air leaving then tighten the cap un fold and re-roll. Once rolled un-do the cap and let any more air out. Re-roll again and slides right into sack. I bought the large therm-a-rest case to go along with my mattress since it was the large size, it slides in easy and the case is waterproof! All over a great mattress! I have only used it for backpacking, but i'm sure its great with everything else! I also got one for my dad and he loves it!

I would buy this product again and again

After its rolled up I can fit it as well as the large therm-a-rest pillow easliy into any pillow case and the pillow case won't be even half way filled up. So thats how compact it is. it is also very light. I prefer it to my own mattress at home because of how it forms to your body, although at times I wake up to have slidden off the top, not rolled off the sides but over the top. I take it backpacking and it keeps you warm instead of having the cold from the ground get to you. 'It is a great pad and I highly recommend it.

Rest Comfortably

Most comfortable rest on any sleeping pad I have ever tried. I chose the prolite plus over the prolite for the extra half inch of padding and I am very pleased that I did. I was comfortable sleeping both on my stomach and on my side. I went with the full length rather than short one for full body insulation for 4 season use. 'Self inflation' takes time and seems to require a couple of breaths to fully inflate, but even out of the package it took 30 seconds to inflate. Great product, worth the price.

What a difference!

My boyfriend has had back problems for years. The last time we went hiking/camping, he was complaining after the first night. This time, I got him the Prolite Plus, and his back didn't hurt once during our 5 days of hiking/camping on Isle Royale. He said he felt so good, he wanted to sleep on the pad on the floor, rather than in the bed at the hotel once we were back on the mainland. Only real complaint was that his sleeping bag slipped around a lot. Also, I bought him the stuff sack separately and we ended up returning it because he preferred to roll up the pad and attach it to the outside of his backpack, rather than fold the pad in half and then roll it up. Regardless, I'm getting one for myself as well (after taking his hand-me-down mat, I understood why his back hurt so much!).
