I just received these pants today. I like a higher waist like how this was made….but…when you cut a size 14 a full 2 inches less in the waist than other pants I’ve bought from your company…that’s very disappointing especially when you consider the price of the clothing.
There is everything to like about these pants! The perfect fit, the comfort, the durability, and the pockets and drawstring at the waist. I have never spent this much money on a pair of pants, but they were definitely worth the price. On a recent two-week trip to Scottish Islands and the English Lake District, I wore them on hikes and dressed them up for dinner with a black travel blazer and blouse. FYI I am 5'5", 138 lbs, 38-39" hips and a size 8 fit perfectly.
These are the best, most versatile pants I've ever owned. I've worn them to work (laboratory setting), climbing both inside and outside, and for above-alpine hiking and backpacking, through both sunshine and snow. The fit is both unbelievably comfortable and flattering, and the waist can be tightened by cinching from the inside. More than enough pockets, too! Wish they had more color varieties!
Except for the length, the pants are fantastic. Look good, super comfy, wash beautifully, perfect pockets. For me, the pants seemed to run large. Size 8 was too big (5'5", 135lb) size 6 fits great without being snug - just too long. Same comment, you can hem them but you lose the special detail at the normal hem and the silhouette isn't quite as nice.
Great warm weather pant for active to casual use. I like the two "phone pockets", one zipped and one not, but my phone is heavy enough to make them droop. Fabric is amazingly low maintenance -- no wrinkles, no stains, no stretched knees, even when I expected them. Cut larger than any RR pant I've bought in the past 15 years.
I am 5'5", 118 lbs and bought a size 6. Great fit, just the right amount of stretch. Breathable and nice weight for cool/moderate temperature hiking. Have only used them for 3 days of hiking so far but am encouraged enough to buy a second pair.
Comfortable pants. I usually wear size 6, but it was loose . Then I ordered size 4, and it is perfect. I like the straight shape, multiple pockets , and lightweight design. I am 5'7" and weigh 120 lb.
Like the pants. Nice fit, many pockets and features. I am 5'4" and they are about 4 inches too long! Could Royal Robbins think about offering petite options?
These are the perfect pants for women who have a straighter figure (definitely not hourglass)! I ordered these to replace my Jammer pants, which I grew out of. (I wish the original Jammer pant had not been replaced by the Jammer II pants -- the original Jammer was so much more comfortable, with a full adjustable elasticized waistband with drawstring to tailor the fit.) The Alpine Mountain Pro's fabric is even more comfortable/stretchy/breezy than the Jammer and Jammer II, and fits like it was meant for me. (I got a size 6, and I'm 5'8'' tall, thinnish hips, 130-135 pounds, and have a long rise which makes it tough to find pants that aren't too short in the rise). In real life the pants look close to what they look like on the model in the video on this page. The hem is perfect for my height. Those who are shorter will need to hem, but they'll lose the cute notch at the bottom hem. The waistband (which hits at the natural waist) will take getting used to after COVID years of wearing sweatpants and elasticized waists, etc., but it will solve the feeling of pants falling down when a pack is around the waist, and the higher waistband really is more flattering! Just be aware that, unlike the rest of the pants, the waistband fabric does not stretch as much (it's a traditional waistband). The pockets will be perfect for travel, and the zippered side pocket fits my iPhone 13 with some room to spare. And, with the waistband hitting the natural waist, the pants don't start to fall down, even with a heavy phone in that side pocket! They're also dressy enough for a business casual office setting.
