I got a pair of the moab 3 edge and I love the vibram soles for one,a big one. I've been a Merrell fan since 07 and I haven't looked back since. But only with vibram soles. Typically I'll go through a pair of Merrell shoes every 2 years.
A good looking shoe but the BOA system is a miss w the current setup. A lot of heal slippage with the BOA and it makes the top of my feet hurt like they are being squeezed. I also have the same pair wo the BOA and have a much more comfortable fit. I dont feel like it matches the use of laces currently but think the technology is note-worthy. These may be the new cutting the grass shoes.
This is the second pair of BOA style shoes I've purchased within a month that have been defective (see my previous review of the BOA Speed Glove shoes). This pair, like the other previously reviewed, also had defective knobs on the outsides of the shoes that are supposed to serve as tightening and loosening mechanisms in lieu of laces - they only tighten/turn in one direction. I have purchased and loved many pairs of Merrell shoes over several years, but it is obvious to me that no quality control checks to insure correct serviceability of these shoes are being conducted by Merrell. DON'T BUY THESE!

I bought these shoes for walks with my dog. But with my first stroll of 100 feet through wet 4 inch loose grass (caused by light drizzle) my socks got already wet. So how am I supposed to walk in my mostly wet surroundings in the Netherlands?

Ok, this is awesome. I currently own 2 Merrell Agility Peak 5 GTX, and NOW I own this pair with a BOA system. This shoe is already amazing, and the addition of a BOA makes it all the better. Better option for a nice snug fit, and have zero issue of getting the laces caught on something when you're running/walking through trails. I haven't tried this shoe yet, but it's the same as my other 2, except this one is BOA. ✅Merrell ✅GTX ✅Vibram ✅BOA ✅Lightweight trail runner What else could you need? So many positive things here. Hopefully they continue this shoe line.
Thanks for the positive feedback!
I’m a seaplane pilot based in Juneau, AK and got these because while operating in Alaska is often beautiful, it’s usually quite wet. So having “tennis” style shoes while giving me waterproof protection is a must. Since ordering these shoes I’ve taken them to Katmai National Park, Las Vegas and back here to Juneau. And no matter what, they’ve been a comfortable, dry shoe. If I have a complaint, it’s that they are slightly narrow at the toes which I start to feel at the end of a long day. But great looking shoe and have received many compliments.
My most favorite shoe I’ve ever had. They are my everyday wear. I have a unique job and lifestyle so I can wear these for travel, leisure, the gym, hiking, working on the house etc. I’ve had them about 5-6 months and no issues. The BOA system works like the day I bought them. So happy to find a quality product in these days of cheap garbage products everywhere your turn. They tighten very well and snug, I live in Chicago and are safe and grippy on slippery sidewalks, good on dirt trails, and great in the gym as well. Highly recommended fellas.
Thanks for being awesome!
I love the idea of this shoe. Its super easy to get on and off and the boa makes it quick to tighten. However, the reason for my 3 star review is because I experience a lot of heel slip and in order to fix the heel slip I have to tighten the boa to the point that my instep is too tight and I loose circulation to my toes meanwhile still experiencing some heel slip. Would recommend this shoe, just not the boa version. It either needs a second boa lacing to tighten the lower portion and another for the upper portion or just stick to the laces. A single boa just doesn't allow for the "customization" in tightness or lack thereof a proper trail shoe requires. I now use them as a overqualified "around town" shoe and don't worry about t he heel slip as much.
We appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
I bought them in all white as I wanted to and do use them as a golf shoe. In white they blend in as a normal golf looking shoe. The boa feature is my preferred "lace" when buying a golf shoe. Now the specific performance positives: 1) this shoe is stable and feels no different than my previous Adidas Boost BOA golf shoe while playing, and 2) the Vibram tread works well in the sand and on the course, and 3) I walk so the lightweight and supportive shoe is better than most of the competition.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
cushiony, and supportive. Feel like they are walking me. A better walking shoe than my Nike pegasis. I wish the front toe area was more spacious. I could play 9 holes of golf but not finish 18 because the front was feeling cramped. Wish I had gotten another half size or more.
It's incredibly rewarding to know that our efforts are making a difference.
