I'll start with saying that I really love this shoe. It is light, comfortable, breathable, with the minimal break-in that you've come to expect from Merrell. I dailied these for about 4 months, except while at work due to toe cap requirements. That entailed a load of trail walking, moderate amount of train running, and every day activities. After about 4 months the mesh area above the toe has worn to a point where in some places the threads are getting almost bare. Maybe I'm half a size too large, I'm not sure, but they're still comfortable regardless of the fact that my toe is at risk of coming out. I would love to buy these again, but I'm skeptical and may go the Nova route.

These shoes are very comfortable and light. I use them for daily walking or hiking. The problem is that these aren't very sturdy. After only 3 weeks these are already tearing at the top. I am disappointed that a shoe made for trail running / hiking cannot last longer without showing such visible wear. For some reason it also is not allowing me to post the photos in my review.

The MTL Long Sky 2 trail runners have an odd, sewn-in, elasticized bootie that make them more difficult to put on than other hiking or running shoes. But, once they're on, they're super comfortable -- snug in the heel, roomy in the toe box, lightweight, ventilated and with grippy soles. I'm happy with them.
Just did 12 mile trail run on some rugged and very muddy terrain. This shoe is so grippy! Looks cool too!
