My weight has fluctuated over the years, but I’ve always had a broad chest. I never drew a correlation between that and the neck and shoulder pain I experienced after long hikes with my other backpacks, until I learned about Gregory’s plus size options I decided to give one a try.
I went with the Citro 30 specifically for my winter mountaineering needs, and I’ve left a review for it. Long story short, I LOVED it. So much so, that I immediately purchased this Arrio 24 for my summer/fall adventures.
As with the Citro before, it is incredibly comfortable and easy to forget you’re even wearing it.
It is a great day pack, with more than enough room for snacks and some supplies. I used it all summer for short hikes, and one trip up to the summit of Mt. Washington where I carried 3 liters of water in the bladder, snacks, emergency gear and clothing layers. All together I think it was around 13 lbs.
The Arrio didn’t come with a water bladder but the Citro did, which saved me from having to buy one. I’ve been using the same Camelbak bladder for 15 years, so I’m sure they’ve made improvements, but this one from Gregory is much nicer. It has a handle that gives it rigidity so it stays open when you hang it to dry with the built in hook.
All around a great backpack. Well done Gregory!
