When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.

Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.
Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.

I think maybe these are a solid shoe, just not the right choice for me. The toe box is perfect - nice and wide for those of us used to going barefoot all the time. However, there is really little arch support. A few minutes into breaking my shoes in it felt like my feet were going to fall off. They’re really soft and cushiony, not too tight, not too heavy. They would be the PERFECT shoe for me if they had just a little more arch support. I’m new to running so probably just trial and error on my part, but keep in mind if you have high arches that this may not be the shoe for you.

These have the potential to be so good if they weren’t so TIGHT!! Wide toe box, where? I’ve had 2 pairs of Altra Riveras for over 3 years which were labeled as slim foot shape at the time. These are supposed to be wider, but they definitely are not. Didn’t end up purchasing these and I think I might be done with Altra for good now.

I haven't moved so nimbly and lightly in years as when I tried out these new Altras. They look good, feel weightless, and help propel me forward. Everything I'd bee hoping for in a new walking shoe, but -- I didn't pay attention to the difference between the standard and original fit. I need more room for my pinky toe. Sadly had to return.
