Returned....did not at all like the feel of the nylon fabric or the weird location of the zippered side pocket which goes across and below the knee. Anything in it is going to kink when the knee bends. I prefer feel of cotton/tencel/rayon like synthetic blends. This 1970 style nylon feels slimey and shapeless. Sorry, not my style. I've been buying Royal Robbins clothing for 30 years which was made more rugged for outdoors use which I loved, now the line feels more lightweight for urban "trekking" Brink back fabric like you used for the Crag Pant and Convoy pants/shorts that has some body to them. There is a reason why jokes were made about polyester nylon years ago.....ugh.
I haven’t taken them out of the package. I already own four pairs of the khaki color pants in the active traveler. And four pair of the darker grey version. I meant to buy the falcon color with my most recent purchase. When the two pairs of khaki showed up I wasn’t sure if I made the mistake in the order or if it was a mistake on your end. Either way, I travel a LOT for work and haven’t gotten around to making the exchange. Maybe this will get the ball rolling on that now. All the best! I love the pants, just not sure I need to own 6 pairs of the same exact pant! Cheers
I now have nine items in the Active Traveler series of shorts and long pants. The stretchy fabric is comfortable in a wide range of weather conditions, sitting, walking, standing. I’ve washed them in hotel sinks and they’re usually dry in the morning. But the main reason I have a large variety is so that I have a standardized set of security features across my traveling wardrobe. The rear zipper pocket is hidden behind the belt. This is such a cool feature and it means my passport/wallet and phone are always stored in the same places.
I don't normally write reviews unless something is really good or really bad. In this case I can only praise this pant and grade it exceptional. The waste is perfect and true to size and the short rise option is essential for me. The dual closure keeps the pant aligned at the wasteline and properly snug to my contours. The fit and fabric are comfortable and cool. Top load front pockets secure contents and the additional rear, internal and zippered pockets are easy to access and versatile. Cuff cords keep out small invaders and the overall construction with rivet-reinforced load points has proved extremely durable. The DWR fabric seems stain proof. I can't say enough about the fit, finish, comfort and durability of this pant. Only wish I had found these years ago.
Great color & fabric. fit is nice with the bit of stretch in them.
I have been using Royal Robbins pants for quite a while but unfortunately the newest version does not have velcro seal on the left back pocket where I keep my wallet. Also the right back packet does not have a full zipper seal. At what point these pants had a full hidden zippered front pocket but that feature has been long gone. This has been a good product that some designer has compromised.
I recommend two key improvements. First, add a second cargo pocket with zipper on the front left leg area. Second, the pants need more room in the crotch/groin area. It’s too tight there. With those two modifications, I would rate the pants higher. Without the changes, I would not buy another pair of these pants.
Very nice fit, very comfortable and they do stretch nicely, holding the waist in squats. Have worn them around the house, yard work and on two camping trips this spring. Hiking is cool and easy. Wading thru streams, they dry quickly. About to test them on a river trip.
The side pocket on this is nice and big--Royal Robbins has been enlarging their thigh pockets which is great. That's such a better place to keep your phone for health reasons. Unfortunately, these pants were much thinner than I anticipated, and I will be returning it.
I love these pants, just love them. Very comfortable and durable, plus the reinforced knees make them suited to any activity. I wear these during fieldwork and in the office. They are fantastic in any setting!! These pants cannot be beat!
