For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Just got these delivered today and jumped on here to tell anyone about to order without trying them on first that they run small. I usually wear size 9.5 US and 42.5 EU. and like my trail shoes to fit really snug. I've had other Sportiva trail shoes and always struggle to find the right size because the 42.5s are usually too snug, and the 43s are usually a bit roomy. I ordered these in 43 and woah... they fit like a snug 42.5. I may even want to go up to a 43.5. Ok, now that I at least got that up to help anyone else about to order... these definitely seem like they would be amazing trail shoes. They suck on like a sock and have plenty of cushion, without feeling heavy or Hoka clunky. I haven't actually gotten them out, but I'm really impressed with the overall quality and how they just wrap the foot and stay on without even lacing them up. I'll update once I wear them on the trail, but I hope this helps with sizing.
SO, here is an update after my previous review. I am very glad to say that after making some adjustments, it is my new favorite hiking shoe. I was worried that my previous thoughts/statements were going to get worse but they got better. Here is what happened: - Switching from full cushion socks to light cushion made a huge improvement. Made it snug but, alleviated the narrow feel. However, targeted cushion socks did not feel good for some reason. (only smart wool was used while testing) - finding longer shoe laces made a great difference. I was able to use more secure knots - testing the shoe in a river: fully submerged (shoelace eyelet area included) no water got through. and it dried very quickly (but it was a hot day in the rockies) - The new laces i used were a little bit thicker than what came with the shoe. I definitely felt it when going downhill under a secure knot. kinda dug in. but not that bad If these issues were addressed out-of-box, I would have gave it 5 stars honestly. But unfortunately, it will be up to you as the customer to make these shoes work. But when you do, they are absolutely amazing. I may be biased because I came from a bulky, heavy-weight nubuck leather shoe, and the improvements may seem better than if i transitioned from a more similar shoe. But they are lightweight and rugged nonetheless. AVOID IF YOU HAVE WIDE FEET
Run waaaaayyy small. Have noticed this with shoes from 2023 on with LaSportiva. Go at least a full size up. The shoe itself is comfortable but I did not test it...returned and went with Arc'teryx Vertex Speed instead.
Great shoe...perfect for my needs, but a whole size too small. Ordered 1/2 size up as web site says but whole size was required. REI great with return and reorder.
Support broke down on my Havasupai hike. Started feeling the heel cups and side of big toes. La Sportiva needs to fix these. I wanted to like them so much.
For now I am giving this a 3 star- but might update to be 4 star after more use. I really really want this boot to work. When putting it on while I am sitting down, it feels FANTASTIC. But as soon as I stand up, I really felt how narrow it feels. If this shoe was made in a wide version, I am SURE that it would earn a 4 if not 5 star. Also, I am very particular about footwear, so I might be too critical. PROS: - nice snug fit (besides being narrow) - great traction - lightweight - FEELS rugged and hike ready on foot and in hand - sock ankle support - GREAT front foot rocking for smooth strides CONS: - way too narrow - when feeling the upper materials and examining the quality/durability, I noticed some areas that were held together by adhesive. If you provided tension yourself, you could probably rip it. But I'm unsure how it holds up when hiking. I'm hoping/think it will hold up - Since the shoe has a sock fitted ankle support (which i love in theory, and almost love in practice), putting on the shoe can be a struggle. For me, I had to pull pretty hard on the back tab/loop, and I heard something *snap*. It seems that 1 stitching popped off - shoelaces are way to small for me who wanted to use different knots for more security
