Sizing Notes
All measurements are stated in inches.
Measuring instructions: wrap a string around the widest part of your head 0.4 to 0.8 in. (1-2 cm) above the top of your ears and brow line. Add 0.8 in. (2 cm) for comfort. Measure string with ruler using final measurement to find head circumference and size needed.

Defective Design
This hat has a defective design. The sweatband inside the hat is too long and buckled which leaves unattractive marks on my forehead. When I wrote to Tilley and tried to post a one star review on their site they ignored the problem and said it was REI’s problem. They haven't posted my negative review on their site
Never Received It!
I ordered this hat along with several other items. I received the other items and am very happy with them. Unfortunately, I didn't receive this hat, and then got an email informing me that (although it was on the website and my order was confirmed) this hat was not actually available. Disappointing. However, REI did apologize and did offer me a 15% discount on my next purchase, which was a classy thing to do!

Great hat, but was so disappointed when I realized there was no place for my ponytail.
L/XL is too small compared to other caps.
This is my first Tilley and I had high expectations, given their reputation. The cap is attractive and well made. Where it fails is with the sizing. I have a large head and always order size L/XL and rarely a one-size-fits-all. I've never had an issue with L/XL until now. When I first received it, I slipped it on and while a tad snug, it seemed fine. After an hour or so, however, the cap started feeling too snug and gave me a slight headache. The cap has a drawcord at the back but the cap maxes out with some of the cord still available. That's extremely disappointing. The cap's size should have allowed for more adjustment. Tilley's image is tarnished, in my opinion, and I won't buy another Tilley. For the price, I would have expected better, much better. All my other L/XL fit far better. If you have a large head, keep my comments in mind. If you decide to try this cap, keep the tags on and wear it around the house a few hours to see if you too discover issues.
