The thing I enjoyed most about this sleeping bag is its many sizing options. I tend to sleep on my side and many mummy style bags I have tried do not work very well for that as I toss and turn at night. Being able to get this in a wide option is great and I can easily adjust myself at night. Quality is good and what you’d expect from REI. The only complaint I have is the stuff sack is a little small and doesn’t have compression straps.
I received this product for free from REI in exchange for my honest review. This is a great sleeping bag. I have been using the same sleeping bag for well over a decade of backpacking trips, and I was really impressed with some of the features, as well as the overall warmth of this bag! Features: This bag has a nice little flap of insulation up by the neck area, which helps to lock in your body heat and keeps you warm inside. There's also a really nice stash pocket near the hood which is perfect for stashing any small items you might need in the middle of the night. Packability: It packs fairly small, definitely suitable for backpacking. The included stuff sack doesn't have any compression straps, but upgrading to a better quality stuff sack could likely free up some room inside your pack. Warmth: I haven't tested this bag in weather colder than 40 degrees yet, but it was plenty cozy at that temperature. Much warmer than my old beat up sleeping bag. Downsides: The only problem with this sleeping bag is that my wife is probably going to steal it from me and I'll be back in my old bag by mid-summer.
This amazing light weight sleeping bag is incredibly soft, so very light and fluffy! It is easy to carry on any camping trip, backpacking or even in a tent in your backyard in the winter snow! When I used this sleeping bag, it was like sleeping on feathers and having a down comforter wrapped all around you while keeping you extra warm. It is a bed and blanket all wrapped up into one item!
I really liked this bag. Comfortable and warm. Zippers looked good. That's usually my complaint with sleeping bags. Six feet 2 inches and 200 lb was very comfortable. Nive simple color combo. Not to hard to pack away in the stuff sack.
My goal with this bag was to get something for super cold camping trips that had some room to it. Just when I wanted to try it, we hit spring so the super cold checks will have to wait. It definitely kept me comfortable overnight at 35F and the extra space (I got the wide version) is much more comfortable than a traditional mummy bag. The extra flap at the collar (to go around your neck when cinched down) and the ability to cinch the top and lower part of the collar separately make me think it'll handle much colder nights. I appreciate that those two cords on the collar are different colors and types (one is round, one is flat), which is a nice touch to be able to adjust them in the dark. I struggled a bit to loosen them on my own though, was definitely a two handed operation. The interior pocket fits a cell phone easily and keeps the battery from draining in the cold, I didn't love having it on top of my chest while I slept though, so I mostly just let it bounce around as I slept.
The REI Co-op Radiant 20 is a warm, lightweight, and durable three-season sleeping bag with water-resistant down, a roomy fit, and great packability—ideal for backpackers seeking comfort and reliability.
The long is good for extra leg room but still kinda tight depending on who is using it. I am 130 lbs, 5’3” and my husband is 260 lbs, 6’1”, I had plenty of room to move around in the sleeping bag but my husband said it was snug. He had to sleep with his arms resting on his chest instead of his sides because of how tight it felt. I could wear several layers and bring in a thin blanket, my husband was able to wear a thick hoodie but not have a blanket in there with him. Otherwise it was very warm and accumulated heat quickly, we camped in the spring, got down into the 20’s (F) at night and was plenty warm enough. The bag is rated to 13 F, but we don’t typically camp during the colder months - so it was perfect for our use. The bag has loops on the side by the zipper that looks like you can hang it by if it gets wet or for storage. The zipper has a plastic guard on it to keep the bag from getting caught, however when my husband was using it the side of the bag was still getting caught on the zipper when he was inside. When I used it, it was easier to zip but I’m also smaller and had more room to move in the bag - again because it was very snug (husband shoulder width is 21-22”)The material is pretty standard, it’s light weight but thin. I would say it’s a good sleeping bag for our use in the spring and fall. Might be too warm for summer nights.
I took the rei co-op radiant 20 sleeping bag to do some car camping along the Columbia gorge in Oregon, one of my immediate first impressions was how light weight it felt and how I’ll be using this as my go to sleeping bag for back packing from now on. The color scheme with the orange and the grey pairs well together but I definitely lean towards darker colors, I few more color options would be nice! I really like how sturdy the zipper feels, it feels well made and that it will last for sometime, also with the zipper I like that there is a long string like grip for easy handling with opening up the sleeping bag. As for the length of the sleeping bag it fits like a glove although it would be nice with just a little extra length, me being 5’9 and with a slim size it felt a little more roam would be better, so if your taller than that the length might be to tight. I’ll have to say that the sleeping bag is quite comfortable though, the material is pretty cozy and kept me warm through the night, I’m not sure exactly what the temperature was outside but it was probably around 30 degrees. All and all I think it is a decent sleeping bag and I’ll definitely be using it quite a bit.
I picked up this bag in exchange for a review. It gets a five stars because of what they do right rather than what they do badly. I was thinking about getting a new sleeping bag for my youngest kid to grow into for Scout camping, it will work well for that. We have a variety of bags in a variety of brands from cheap felt liners to custom sleeping quilts so I can come from comparing it with all of them I’m very happy with it given its features. Having three widths and three lengths is a great thing to see. Unlike many bags they give the weight of every bag size, a massive positive. Having this many options is something often limited to custom made bags that cost a lot more. That alone will have me recommending it to others. Unused space is cold space. I have a few areas of concern- The lack of actual r-value shared. The mesh storage bag is nice. I’ve had to buy them for other bags, its inclusion is welcomed. The stuff sack is a bit too small. It goes in but it takes a lot of effort, something hard to do in the cold. You may find yourself replacing the bag or just not using it. Make note this is down, the direction to clean it doesn’t account for that. REI has a great down care article they could link to. It is not quite designed for draft control. The bottom zipper hole isn’t insulated that well. Easy to fix with a spare sock but something to know about. What’s the tiny loop for? There’s nothing about it in the description.
I bought this sleeping bag online and was really disappointed when it arrived. It was shipped flat without the smaller compression/stuff sack that’s supposed to come with it. That little bag is essential for traveling or packing it in a suitcase — without it, the sleeping bag is way too bulky to bring on a plane. It’s ridiculous that such an important part is missing, and there was no warning or option to request a replacement. Now I’m stuck with a sleeping bag I can’t even use for my trip. Tip: Buy this in-store where you can actually see what you’re getting. Ordering online clearly isn’t reliable — I won’t be making that mistake again.
