This mode is listed for
This mode is listed for MTB but are also great for all activities to include running and road cycling. The fit description is accurate- medium fit with large coverage. Overall, you won’t be disappointed with these if you’re looking for a high quality pair of shades for all outdoor activities.
Flawed Design
I have had to super glue the lens back together in the corners as others have stated. The magnets is a terrible idea that doesn't solve a problem and creates a new one. I have had two pairs now that have developed the same problem. The magnets are exposed to moisture, sweat, rain, water from cleaning ect., then they rust and swell making it harder and harder to change lenses.
Awesome fit and function
I’ve got a large head, so finding sunglasses that fit and look right is a challenge. Other Smiths that I’ve bought in the past always had to be an XL version in order to fit me correctly. I was a little worried when I ordered these since they were labeled as medium-large fit, but I’m really glad I pulled the trigger. They fit awesome on my giant melon, have great coverage, and don’t look too small. Functionally these are hands down the best riding shades I’ve used. They are light weight, vent easily, and offer great protection in the sun when I’m on my gravel rig. I also love the clear lens set too for MTBing in more covered/ forested areas.
My search for great eyewear is over!
Got these after trying several other brands on. Nothing compared to the fit of these, they are perfect for my face and head shape. The coverage is awesome and so is the clarity of the lenses. I use them for road and even in shadowy tree covered areas they aren’t too dark. When riding in bright sunlight I almost forget I’m wearing them. Did a 40 mile ride today and didn’t experience any fogging and they were so comfortable I almost forgot I was wearing them. It was pretty windy and didn’t have any debris get up under them. I have the network helmet and they go great with it. The MAG connect is really awesome too. I highly recommend these!
Great cycling glasses, and not just for MTB
Bought these glasses for cycling use - MTB and gravel. The MAG lens swap tech is innovative in that the temple arms click off the lens and onto the other lens - way easier than the old school getting your greasy hands all over the lens wrestling it out of the frame. Big fan of this new MAG lens swap tech it is a huge improvement! Fit is great for a more full coverage lens for a medium sized face, and the lens profile is not so huge that you feel like maybe you're wearing your ski goggles while you ride your bike. The glasses come with two lenses, a nice Smith box for long term use, and cleaning cloth. It's a lot of prosuct for the $$.
Versatile and stylish
Comfortable fit. Good protection. Clear viewing. These shades have been versatile as I have been wearing for both mountain bike rides and road rides. The attacks deflected a rock or big bug that would have dinged me in the head on multiple occasions both on the road and trail. I was worried about the large lens size as I have a smaller shaped head, but I have had many compliments on the look as they integrate nicely with my Smith helmet. For low light rides in the trees the lens is switched out easily with very little effort. I had a little fogging on a long, hot, huffing mountain bike ride. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
Great for MTB!
Finally some great glasses for MTB! I bought the clear to gray lens color, which is useful for those rides that start in the evening and go past dark. It's also nice for trails that are in mixed shade and full sun. These are comfortable to wear and the updated design to change the lens is much better. They fog up a tiny bit but not as much as others. The fit seems to be pretty universally flattering - I have a round face and my husband's face is tall and narrow. They fit both of use, and he ended up with a pair too, in the blue and matte red rock. I will say the "red rock" is more of a light orange compared to what is pictured, but he kept them anyway.
Sit too close to the face, fog issues
I’m surprised that other people don’t seem to have the issues with these glasses that I have. They sit too close to my face. My eyelashes touch the lenses when I blink, which is annoying. More importantly, on climbs when I’m moving slowly or when I stop, they immediately fog up (again because I think they’re too close to my face). I’m using them primarily for mountain biking in New York where it can be humid but it’s not the PNW. I also separately bought the photochromic replacement lens (didn’t come with the color I got), and they really don’t get dark/transition well at all. Smith claims 20-85% VLT. I’d guess more like 60%-85%.
Great on the bike! Can't wait for ski season.
I got these as a full coverage mountain bike sunglass, and the to use a ski touring sunglass in the winter. haven't used them skiing yet, but they have been great for MTB! The fit is great for my face in the smaller nose adjustment and they stay in place incredibly well. The low light lens is almost clear, but adds just a little bit of pop from the light tint. I have ended up using that lens the most, in and out of the trees in the PNW it has been great. The interchange system is really easy to use without touching the lenses, although I would be like to find a second set of the nose piece to leave there for quick swaps.
Great but would prefer a broader fit
These were a warrenty replacement for a pair of tech glass smith's that where no longer produced. I don't think I would have bought them on my own as the are a bit pricey. That being said I will say that they work well and have great optics (to be expected). I have several other riding glasses of various quality and these are far superior. My only regret is that they don't come with lens that accommodate a broader face. Maybe in the future. I have several Smith helmets, Google and numerous sunglasses. I like Smith as the stand behind their products and have always provided excellent customer service over the years.
