Took these out on a 6.5 mile run right out of the box. I'm a muscular 6'3" 200 lbs, so not a typical jockey size skinny runner. I also tore my meniscus a year and a half ago (with subsequent surgery) so that knee can get aggravated esp on the road. My first run out of the box in these shoes (6.5 miles at 8:53 min / mile - easy pace for me) was the first asphalt / concrete run since my meniscus injury that did not hurt my knee; I've been limited to running on trails which pound the joints less. I LOVE these shoes so much. Protective, not mushy, smooth smooth smooth, and can pick up the pace if you want. I cannot recommend these enough!
Halle the manger in Westbrook Maine was hostile and extremely unprofessional. She told me this is normal for this shoe to fall apart in three weeks . She also said she doesn’t not reccomend them at all. Even tho her staff pushed these shoes on me. I have been wearing hokas for over 6 years and never had this happen. I was gonna try new balance but was pushed to these shoes which i did enjoy until my foot fell through the mesh. I still have yet to hear back from cooperate. I have purchased over 7 pairs of bondi hokas and hope this can be resolved this should be passed up to the regional manger of Maine so Halle can learn about customer service. This is my first ever attempt at a return and am very disappointed
I’ve been running regularly for 7 years but always in less-than-ideal or even second-hand shoes. I decided to run the OC Marathon this year and since I had a dividend and a Christmas gift card, I also decided to do it in real running shoes. I ended up purchasing these Bondi 9s just four days before the marathon. I ran a 2 mile test around my block and they felt great. Same with the pre-marathon 5k. I was optimistic about my first ever marathon the following morning and it was not misplaced! The shoes were fabulous and I finished near midpack! Despite their newness, I had no blisters or foot pain. Not only that, within two days I was fully recovered which was wild since my 12-16 mile training runs often required 7-10 days for my knees to fully recover using my old shoes. These shoes are amazing. I only wish I’d not waited so long. I generally wear a size 11 but ended up purchasing a size 10 because I preferred the snug fit. I do not regret that decision at all. I could not be happier and would highly recommend the Hoka Bondi 9s to anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish running shoe.
7 years ago I decided to start running again for exercise. At the time I bought my first pair of Hokas at my local REI store, upon recommendation from the REI associate in the footwear section. I have worn Hokas ever since then, and I credit the comfort and design of their shoes with the fact that I continue to be able to run pain-free and without the injuries I used to experience. Today I just finished my first 3 mile run in my new pair of Bondi 9's. Wow. Even though I have come to appreciate the cushiony ride of Hoka running shoes, I was beyond impressed with the feel of my new Bondi 9's. I am a Hoka customer for life :-).
I was very disappointed with the Bondi 8's . Everyone said they were so comfortable, yet when I put them on my feet, they ached so badly. I did not understand! I had to return the 8's. I gave Hoka another try with the 9's. They have made a world of difference. These are like walking on clouds. Extremely comfortable and can be worn comfortably all day.
I ordered the extra wide version of these shoes. They are not wide! In fact, my regular width Altras are the same width as these and are wider at the big toe. Unlike these which cut in across my big toe. This is just the insole. The upper is also not wide enough.
Although the cost is crazy high these shoes are by far the best walking shoes that I have owned. Lot off cushion and really makes a difference
I have had Bondi 6,7,8 and now 9’s and these are bothering me a bit. They are higher than all the others and I’ve stumbled and tripped a few times more than usual with these, plus I feel like the toe box is a bit smaller than the others. I may go back to the 8’s until they become unavailable.
After multiple pairs of Bondi 8s, switched to the Bondi 9. Great shoe. Better overall fit. Excellent cushioning. Really like the resigned heel. True upgrade.
This does not have the depth that the Bondi 8 had. If you are looking for a wide you may have to go for an extra wide. Bring back the Bondi 8. I don’t know what people will do that need the Extra Wide. I don’t believe that there is an additional wide to make up the lack of depth.
