weird features limit use case

I enjoy the pattern of this top and some features that I look for in outdoor gear like secure stash pockets and cool, SPF and DWR treated material. This will be a great top for outdoor hangs and lazing around camp, but the super weird shape means that it's awkward to hike or climb in. This shirt is basically square-shaped, with a longer tail in the back (usually a great feature to combat low-rise pants remaining pervasive in outdoor wear), which still leaves it too short for my average torso. Unfortunately, it fit me more like a crop top than an adventure shirt- simultaneously too big in width and too short in length. For comparison, it is 5 inches wider than my fave short-sleeved hiking buttondown and 2 inches shorter in the front. This combination of shapes means that it is not long enough to stay tucked into my harness while climbing or a hip belt while hiking. This makes for some uncomfortable rubbing that really reduced my enthusiasm for the top. I'm 5'5" and was in my normal XS size, but can't imagine this fitting comfortably for anyone over 5'2-3ish. Since the short length was the factor that limits use of this shirt for me, I'm voting runs small, but it's also too wide/large and the extra width seemed to make it blouse out more and more readily wriggle out of a harness or pack.

Love this shirt!

I love this shirt! It’s lightweight, cooling, and fun. It also has a small zip pocket near the hip which is nice. Other reviewers mentioning the buttons- the buttons aren’t ideal, but if you go at them vertically (putting your thumbs above the button to unsnap in between the two shirt layers where the fabric is thicker, and forefinger on each side front/back of the button) to unbutton, rather than horizontally how you’d normally unsnap shirt buttons, then you have more leverage and they open pretty easily. I agree, not the best button choice by the manufacturer, but not horrible and easy solution to make them work right.

Most complimented hiking shirt ever!

This shirt has been a hit both on and off the trail. I get compliments on it wherever I go! I have the Vivid Grove Mineral Teal color, and it certainly stands out in a crowd. It's loud, but not obnoxious. In my wardrobe of florals, it fits right into my style. I usually wear a size medium (unisex) or large (women's; sometimes x-large), and the large size of this pullover is actually quite airy and roomy. A medium might have been a better fit for me, but I know I'll appreciate the extra breathability on hotter days. The sunglasses clip is a nice touch, and the technical components of the shirt perform as expected: the shirt has keeps a neutral smell (even when my body hasn't), protects from sun, and wicks moisture. This will be a required item in my summer hiking kit. I love the versatility it has and wear it frequently both on and off the trail.

Great versatile shirt!

I love this Trailmade shirt - I typically wear a L/XL or size 16 and the XL fits me perfectly. The fabric is light and airy and has a bit of stretch. Works great for hiking, hanging out or a casual day at the office. I got the red dot fabric which has a cute retro feel. I will definitely buy more of these especially if more prints are made!

Lightweight, comfortable!

As a lover of funky button-downs, I was pumped to receive this shirt from REI! The pattern is bright and bold, and the shirt itself is lightweight and comfortable. I’ve worn this shirt outdoors on hikes and indoors while rock climbing, and it’s performed well on all occasions. The one downside is a slightly awkward fit around the shoulders (I have broad shoulders, and it’s a little wide on me), and a slightly too short hem (I love to tuck shirts in!). Despite these minor issues, this shirt will definitely make it into my rotation of hiking apparel, and I’m excited to test it further on backpacking trips when the weather warms up!

different, comfortable

I was looking for a light, airy shirt for use this summer while living and volunteering in a park. This shirt is not my usual style but I went to REI to check it out. I was afraid it would be a little too cropped for my taste, but it turns out it wasn’t. The shirt was nice and loose and the sleeves were a little longer than a lot of women’s button up type shirts. I got the green and blue pattern and while that’s not really normally my style, I do like it and it’s very versatile. It’s funny to say but I never knew I needed a sunglass loop until I got one. The little loop on this shirt is so convenient to hang your sunglasses on. I don’t know why more shirts don’t have it!

bright and comfortable

I have one of these shirts, and older version, in a different color, and I like it so much that I decided to get a second one. This is a new color/pattern for me and a little outside of my normal style of clothing, but I went for it anyway. I really like how comfortable the shirt is, how it fits and the little sunglass loop is definitely a bonus. I got compliments on it the first day I wore it. I think was great about this shirt is that you can wear it hiking and you can also wear it out to lunch and not look like you’re wearing hiking clothes. It’s very versatile. I have a feeling I will be wearing it a lot this summers

I love the weight, material and bright print of this shirt. It's short in design, so not meant to be tucked in.
