A Let Down - Waist Gap, Pockets Don’t Fit Phone
I wanted to love these shorts. They are great on paper. However, I realized a few crucial flaws when I received them in person: - None of the pockets fit my phone with a case on it (iPhone 15 Pro with Symmetry Otterbox case) - There is a huge waist gap (my bum and hips are wider than my waist, resulting in tightness around the bum and a huge gap everywhere else) - The undershorts and over shorts are so similar in size that when the inner shorts fit snug, the outer shorts look way too tight. I prefer a slightly looser look with tighter interior. - Inner shorts are flimsy and fall down when packed with a phone, etc, unless you massively size down.
Ride up Badly
I am sooo sad that these didn't work out for me. Someone I follow on Instagram said they were one of the few out there that didn't actually ride up. They rode up really bad for me. The bottom, tighter short rolled the top short right into it. I ran about 5 miles in total but had problems with them riding up the whole way. I think the tighter shorts may have been a little too small for me. I tried on the next size up but the waist was huge. So, pear shaped ladies take note! I'm 5'11". Waste is about 29.5, hips are 42", thighs are about 23" around each. I got a large. I never spend this much on shorts, but I thought it might be worth it if they didn't ride up for my half marathon!
Cool & Comfy
Ordered these last week and they arrived in time for my 10 mile run on Saturday. Perfect fit, liner didn’t ride up at all and I appreciate all the pockets especially the zippered one in back. I’m running a half in April and another in May; these shorts will definitely be my go-to. Will probably order another pair soon.
Pocket problems
Let me say, I really like the fabric and comfort of these shorts. However, I am a type one diabetic with an insulin pump. I am not a distance runner and I need to run with my pro max size phone, my pump and candy. A big reason I purchased the pants was because I was excited about all the pockets. They did not work well for me. I found them very small, including the back zipper pocket. I was able to place my pump in one of the side pockets and candy in the other but there was no place for the phone. When I tried to put it in the back pocket I couldn’t get past the zipper. As I said, I loved the construction and comfort of the pants but I was very disappointed in the difficulty with the pockets.
Odd fit, very slim
I was really looking forward to these as I've had a hard time finding shorts with this type of legging underneath with pockets, but they're a really odd fit. Very slim through the legs and I am not curvy or have large thighs. It's almost like the short part was similar fitting to the "tights" underneath. I am between a small and a medium, bought the medium and they feel too small. I will return them for a large, but we shall see if that makes the material bunch where it shouldn't.
Quality Shorts but still ride up
I think the material is high quality and comfortable. However, I am a girl with muscular thighs (ok, not all muscle) and struggle to find shorts that don't ride up. I had high hopes for these, but the legging material doesn't stay put for long. And the thinner short material rides up at the speed of light. I believe I ordered the correct size. I'm disappointed at the price point and the fact they are Brooks. I was just really hoping to find a winner. I realize it's a struggle, but just a little something to keep the leggings in place would be so much better.
every day short = meh
I really wanted to love these shorts for everyday wear because YAY pockets! I wear the method 5" short when running and love the fit and pockets so decided to try this. These are a little bigger than the method in terms of tight-fitting and the side inner pocket can barely fit my iPhone SE (a smaller phone to begin with). The tiny pockets in the waist are fine for a key or a couple dollar bills. I don't hate them enough to return but I don't think I'll be getting additional pairs. The hunt for functional pockets in everyday active shorts is still on.
Great shorts
I really like these shorts. The waistband is comfortable, the length is good (7" would work too), and they just work for me. I don't run but walk, workout in the gym and will probably spin in them at times. They are perfect for the gym when it is too warm tights. The inner short does creep up some but I don't find that a problem. All the pockets are good - not sure if a phone would work as it may be too heavy. I don't always carry a phone. I also have the 2.0 version which I might send back. I much prefer the regular shorts because they fit so much better. They are both mediums but the 2.0 version has too much room in the legs, baggy. I could probably go with a small in those. I am 5'2'' and 115 lbs. I wear a small in the 7" Chasers.
Not great for curvier bodies
It's so hard to find a good pair of 2-in-1 shorts if you're not a thin runner. I had high hopes for these but was disappointed. If you're curvier around your hips and thighs but thinner in the waist, these might not work for you. To get a pair big enough for my hips, I had to size up, but they're way too loose around the waist as a result, and the draw string is such that I can't pull it tight enough. The quality is nice, and they're otherwise comfortable. It's a bummer to have an expensive pair of shorts become the "back-up" pair.
Nice but the fit was slightly off
I’m so incredibly disappointed in the fit with these shorts. I’m 5’1 and 130lbs and the medium fit but was snug around the hips and abdomen, lose at the back of the legs, but snug at the front of the legs but fit around the waist. Maybe these shorts are just not cut right for my frame but I wanted to love these so much. They were made well and the fabric feels like it would be great on long runs. I will try the large at my local running store before I re-buy the large online but something tells me the large is going to be too big.
