Giro Taggert Mips Snow Helmet
A clean, low-profile design with Mips® impact protection make the Giro Taggert snow helmet versatile for all-mountain use so you can confidently focus on any terrain.

- Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (Mips) has 3 main components: the interior foam liner, the low-friction liner and an elastomeric attachment system between them
- In an angled impact, the elastomeric attachment stretches to allow the foam liner to rotate independently around your head; the goal is to further reduce rotational forces
- In-mold construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the impact-absorbing foam liner
- The fusion process allows for better ventilation systems, making in-mold helmets lighter and cooler than traditional helmets
- In Form 2 Fit System is lighter and lower-profile than the original; it is easier to dial in a custom fit in seconds—even with gloves on
- An improved dial design provides up to 6 cm of adjustment plus enhanced stability
- Discreet exterior vent design and interior channeling—including the liner and padding—combine to create optimal airflow and temperature regulation
- This auto-venting technology manages airflow and temperature when in motion riding, hiking or standing static
- Certification: CE EN1077

Great helmet for a variety of layer combinations
This helmet is great! Lightweight, great matte finish, fits my head beautifully which is something I've struggled with for other helmets. Plus, the ear flaps are more of a flexible style, which doesn't pinch on your head and neck if you wear a hat or hood underneath. I have used it in a variety of conditions this winter and would highly recommend for others. Also fits perfectly under my ski jacket hood. The only minor complaint I have is that the goggles clip in the back is designed to only really have just a strap underneath it. If you have clips or an adjustable buckle, it may stick out a little more than other helmets would.
Nice adjustability
The range of head sizes this helmet fits is really nice! Other snow helmets I’ve worn in my size — including other dial adjustment helmets — have had a much narrower range of sizes they fit well, meaning I haven’t been able to cram a hat underneath to keep my ears extra warm. Not with this guy! I was able to wear a close fitting fleece beanie underneath to stay warm while night skiing. When I had my beanie off, I could still crank it down tight enough to safely and securely fit my head. The only tradeoff seemed to be that the ear covers were thinner and less rigid than other helmets I’ve worn. It also sat flush with my Glade goggles!
Solid simple ski helmet
Overall I really like this helmet. What it lacks in features it makes up for in low weight and simplicity. Pros: It’s easy to adjust with a wheel in the back to tighten or loosen. It kept me warm on a 15F day with a balaclava. It fits my head and goggles (Glade Adapt 2) well. The Taggert felt light and was comfortable to wear all day. I felt like I could hear better in this helmet than others I’ve worn. I think it looks good and got multiple compliments on how sleek the helmet looked Cons: No adjustable vents, so it’s less versatile than others This helmet has not been independently tested by the Virginia Tech Helmet Ratings Lab The goggle clip in the back seems flimsy
Comfortable well fitting ski helmet
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I chose the helmet in a size large, and it has exceeded my expectations. The fit is very comfortable. Giros fit system allows for precise adjustments even with gloves on. The ear coverage is spacious yet warm, keeping my ears cozy without any pressure. Knowing it features MIPS technology gives me added confidence in its protective capabilities. Additionally, the helmet pairs seamlessly with my Giro ski goggles, eliminating any goggle gap and ensuring clear vision. Overall, it’s a fantastic helmet that combines comfort, adjustability, and safety. I look forward to putting in more days on the mountain with this new helmet.
Light, comfortable, no frills helmet
I like this helmet a lot. It’s just as comfortable as helmets double the price and it weighs significantly less, it’s so light it felt like I was wearing nothing at all. Some helmets will creak with movement from the mips but that is not the case here. Ventilation is surprisingly good considering the minimal openings and the goggle fit is perfect (even though my goggles are from a different brand).
Good looking Helmet
Great looking helmet, very comfortable. I like it for a more foul weather day because it doesn't have vents on top, so it my head stays warmer and dry. The design is also very sleek which helps on the tree runs not to catch branches. I was able to still fit a hat underneath as well which is always a nice option
Good Budget Option with Some Drawbacks
The good - comfortable fit for me, adjustable with a BOA-style system. Good fit with or without a balaclava. Fits with Smith goggles, no gaper gap which is a big plus. The bad - lack of ventilation, which for me is a big negative since I run hot. Protective foam feels cheap compared to the more modern honeycomb style protection, and doesn’t give me the confidence that more expensive options do. Overall I think it’s a decent option for a budget helmet, but don’t expect any of the comforts of more full-featured options.
Fits but a tad uncomfortable.
Product fits circumference wise, but is a little uncomfortable as it does not conform to the exact shape my head. Light weight and looks great! Especially with goggles. Would be nice if the clip was either larger or a magnetic clip as trying to clip or unclip the helmet strap is difficult with mountain gloves on.
would recommend!
Fit: I'm very happy with the fit of this helmet. My other helmet is Smith Maze and in Smith helmets, I have to get the "Round Contour Fit" since I'm Asian I guess. So it is super convenient that the regular Giro fit works great out of the box since the special fits are harder to find. It also fits true to size -- I got the same size as my Smith helmet. The brim is low so there's no gap between goggle and helmet but it pushes my goggles a tad lower than preferred (I have Smith 4D Mag goggles). Protection: Out of all the helmet types (softshell, ABS, in-mold, hybrid in-mold) I like hybrid in-mold or in-mold because they are the best for the most common skiing impacts. Hybrid in-mold has a slight advantage for durability against cosmetic damage but costs more so sometimes is not worth the upgrade. This helmet is in-mold so that is great! Also it has MIPS to protect against rotational impact. Style: I like how the chrome colored logo reflects colors in daylight. I like that the vents are subtle and the ear muffs are low profile.
Great helmet!
Wonderful and solid helmet! Got this in black and the color is great. Nice simple helmet but with MIPS technology so you know you’re protected. The inside is warm and like many, adjustable fit. Went with my normal size M and it fits perfect!
