This replaces a 45-degree Merrell boot that went bald on me. (15 years of biking and hiking) Great fit, neat sole, and smooth surround on the foot. Well except for the last shoelace eyelet that does not tuck under the tung. I looked at the old boots and they also had eyelet holes, not a metal hook but the tung was wide enough to prevent the pressure of the shoelace on the foot bones. At 68 years old I appreciate the light weight Goretex of This Moab3. I am going to break them in and keep my eye out for pressure points. I have high hopes these will serve me well on my Machu Picchu bucketlist trip next year!
Thank you for sharing your feedback Terri.
I have a hard time finding shoes I like. But these shoes are some of my favorites. I got them a little over a month ago and went on a backpacking trip. They’re waterproof (we were hiking through rivers) and I didn’t get any blisters. They were shockingly comfortable as well. Great function and comfort. Highly recommended
We're grateful for your input.
Have bought two pairs over the years, lacings shred early on after purchase and rubber pulls away from sole! Not purchasing these anymore! Save your monet!
Soles are completely peeling up after a few weeks of moderate use. Expected better quality based on reputation and reviews online.
I was very surprised by how uncomfortable these shoes were after reading such rave reviews. First, the fit: I had to do returns and ended up needing a full size larger than any other Merrell shoe I've owned. Once I got the right fit, it was like walking on the hardest plastic and didn't even feel like I was wearing a real shoe. No arch support, and actually no support whatsoever. I bought these for a trip to Scotland and Ireland, and I can't imagine these working for hiking or walking long distances- I couldn't even walk around my house comfortably. I was so surprised because Merrell shoes have never fallen short for me before. I had to return them.
We're sorry to hear this style wasn't for you.
These were great on a pretty rugged hike with my kids through Turkey Run State Park, Indiana. There were several spots where we crossed a creek and the waterproofing was exceptional, except where I went in a little too deep and the running water came in over the top (my fault). Despite having one wet foot, I hiked for several miles with no rubbing or discomfort at all. It was hardly even noticeable that my sock was wet. I wore ankle socks and they never slipped down. Grip was also fantastic. Never slipped a single time even though most of the trail is rocky and usually wet. My only complaint is that sand and gravel easily kicks up and into the back on my shoe. I had to stop several times to dump them out. Maybe I will get the higher ankle version of these in the future as they are overall, very comfortable and functional as far as waterproofing and grip is concerned.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
As soon as the women's Moab 3 Gore Tex came out with new colors in women's size 12, I ordered a pair. I have several other pairs of the Moab 2 and 3. I love the Olive color of the new Gore-tex I just received, but, compared to the non gore-tex and the waterproof pair I have (and to the Moab 2 pair), the fit is slightly off on the newest pair. They are a bit wide even though they are supposed to be a medium. The previous pairs of Moab 2 and 3 were made in Vietnam while the newest Gore-tex pair was made in Cambodia. I don't know if this is the difference or whether Merrell changed specifications. I plan to keep this pair, but they don't hug my foot in quite the same way as the others....

Moab never disappoints. This is my third pair of Moab hiking shoes but my first pair of waterproof ones. I have a high arch and these shoes were comfortable from the start. Good traction when climbing on rocks and crossing creeks. Did not experience any foot fatigue at the end of the 6mile descent, knees were tired but not the feet!
Just bought my third pair of Moab 3 GORE-TEX shoes in 6 years. I reconditioned the second pair with new laces/insoles and am wearing them as I write this review from a rural village outside Santa Rosa de Copan Honduras. These are the only shoes with the fit and durability I need.
We love it! Thanks for the great feedback!
