The Ultra Standard for Serious Trail Runners

The S/Lab Ultra François d’Haene edition is everything I want in a trail shoe—light, precise, and built to suffer. I train and race ultras with 6,000+ feet of elevation on technical terrain, and these shoes feel like they’re glued to the trail. The fit is snug but race-ready, with the kind of locked-in feel that lets you descend with confidence and climb without hesitation. They’re aggressive, responsive, and durable—just like the mindset it takes to train under the Daily Scheduled Suffering philosophy. If you’re chasing distance, climbing vertical, and pushing limits, these are the tools for the job. —Charles “Daily Scheduled Suffering” Cottrell Ultrarunner | Running Coach beacons.ai/dailyscheduledsuffering

Not worth $240

Narrow shoe with a nice footfall but the Speed laces make the arch support pinch at mid foot.

Fast shoe

I bought this shoe about a month ago and have run a couple of hundred km so far. This is a fast shoe, which really feels like it is propelling you forward. It took me a little bit of time to get used to the higher stack height compared to my previous shoe, particularly on rougher terrain. The shoe feels pretty light when running; and gives a good feel of connectivity with the terrain despite the stack height. The fit is also excellent for my narrower feet. I find I need to do the wire lacing up quite tight, or readjust after a few km, as the lacing tends to slip a little when running. Overall though the shoe is really comfortable. Generally I’m really pleased with the shoe. First time I’ve bought a Salomon shoe and would definitely do so again.

The best ultra running shoes!

I loved the S/Lab genesis. Decided to try S/Lab Ultra. At first, the toe box looks narrower than Genesis. I had a trial run for 40 plus miles in very rugged in Arizona without having any problems. It has a little wiggle room and very well supported my low arches. I like a sung feel but too tight and kept my ankles and foot from buckling. Definitely worth of investment!

Everything I was expecting and more

Purchased the S/LAB Ultra just a couple of weeks before a 100 miler. Ran about 40km prior to the race and they were a perfect fit and feel. Knew they would be perfect for this race and they didn't disappoint. Got me though all terrain type with ease and across the finish line.

Great shoe

Great comfortable shoe, true to size. Good for moderate terrain and trails but not for technical trails, but that's also not what they are made for. I have about 75-100 miles on them right now and are just a good overall trail running shoe on a decent trail for a longggg run.

400 mile review

Salomon...your distribution is very frustrating. This shoe came out in August of 2023 and it was next to impossible to get until late in 2024. It is also frustrating to learn that his model will be discontinued, another frustrating, but theme for Salomon lately. One of the more shocking disappointments in this shoe is the lacing. They do NOT stay tight. They need alot of adjustments. I am fearful this will also be a problem in the new Salomon Slab Ultra Glides. For full transparency has Salomon received this feedback from other people or your sponsored athletes? Durability is good, the foam needs to be GREATLY improved you need PEBA with the full fiberglass plate. There is not liveliness to the shoe. It is a boring shoe that just get the job done. Can you please advise if you have an lacing complaints with the new Salomon Slab Ultra Glides based on feedback from testing or your sponsored runners? Because of the lacing issues in these I would NOT recommend this shoe. I would love to have an open conversation with Salomon's design team.

Fast and Comfortable

The upper fits like a sock. The foam is light and fast, but not too mushy. The only drawback is if you have wide feet, this is not the shoe for you. As do most S-Lab shoes. I have very narrow feet and the fit is amazing.

Great duribility

Awesome shoes, looking and feeling great. durability is outstanding! 800+ miles of training and racing later. Ground filter is great at reducing the effects of acorn/ gravel paths on the feet. Worth the extra money IMO.

Quick lace Issue

I have never had a problem with the Salomon Quick laces coming loose. It happens often on these. Does anyone know why? Is there something wrong with the lock, the lace pattern?
