Finally... A jacket that does what it says its going to do - so happy I purchased this. Excellent rain protection I experienced over 2 hours in medium rain on walk. No wet out, no leakage - water just ran off and kept me dry the whole time. Highly recommend this jacket for sure !
I've had 3 of these - all returned after the first use. The quality control is terrible and they all had signs of delamination after just one use in the rain. Will be buying a different brand.
Great jacket! I walk my dog 2-3 hrs a day in all kinds of weather. This jacket keeps me warm (with layers underneath) and dry. I buy men's jackets because I hate the fit of most women's jackets which are too constricting.
The jacket is nice looking but the hood is not useful if there is a breeze over 10-15 mph. There isn't a hood draw string lock and a breeze in your face bellows the hood, draw string slips to wide open and the hood flips if off your head. You have to hold it on with one hand. Not worth it for head protection.
Love this jacket! Took it to Maine on vacation and had an incredibly wet and rainy day. This thing kept me dry and cool despite the summer heat I’m a shorter person and bigger so the fit is a little interesting. Needed to size up to XL and it feels a little long in the arms and torso for being 5’8”. However the extra coverage is absolutely a plus when it comes to a real downpour. The material feels thick and durable but not overly bulky. Amazing product and would absolutely recommend!
I’ve used this several times as a top layer on cold rainy days as well as a top waterproof layer on cold and wet walks. While it doesn’t provide much warmth itself I bought it a size up (XL) so that u could properly layer beneath it. Layering with this jacket is assisted by the zippers on the sides which go all the way up to the armpit, therefore if you get to hot you can easily dump heat and regulate temps. What I found during my runs is that I moves well with the body, I did not have any complaints about restriction I felt I could run and even sprint without worry.
While the sleeves are a good length, the torso of the 1XL, I ordered, was too snug. 1XL works in 90% of the garments I've ordered. No data on it's rain protection, as I'll likely exchange it.
Fit is decent. Shoulders are a bit narrow, necessitating me stepping up in size. Now the body is a little baggy, but that is ok since I got this with the intention of layering underneath. I thought I really wanted the full side zips, but as some have pointed out, you can feel them under a hip belt. Not sure if a real issue for me since I don't do much heavy backpacking anymore. The flaps covering both the pockets and the pit zips are kind of small (and the zippers not waterproof), so I do worry little bit about leakage in real storms (got this for Iceland which has some pretty insane wind mixed with the rain and snow). Fabric seems reasonably robust for the weight - a decent compromise. Not as much stretch as I thought it might have, but there is enough extra room for me that it doesn't much matter. I haven't put it through its paces outdoors yet, but just in testing fit around the house, definitely feels more breathable and comfortable than a cheaper 3L jacket from Eddie Bauer and what I remember from my old 2.5L jackets that have all delaminated at this point. Some cons that dropped the rating, but I am still deciding on if they are deal breakers. The hood is helmet sized, which results in a comical amount of extra fabric around the head and neck when cinched down (I have a Marmot softshell jacket with helmet hood which deals with this much better). Additionally, two of the pulls for adjustment are inside the jacket, requiring you to open the jacket in the rain to cinch the hood down. Also, the front/top of the zipper is really tall and stiff. For me it either has to be pinned uncomfortably under my chin or I have to have it sticking out almost further than the brim of the hood goes. Another con is that the pockets are low and aren't accessible when wearing a hip belt. Also adds more zippers you can feel. I WANT to really like this jacket, as it seems to hit a good sweet spot with price and performance (for 3L shells), but the hood and pockets are pretty iffy to me. I will update once more shells arrive and I decide which is the best one for me.
I needed a jacket that would perform in a variety of extreme environments when going inside was not an option. This jacket filled this role perfectly and has kept me dry while exploring the north Maine Woods more recently while hiking through the cloud rain forest in Costa Rica. On a cool rainy day, you can keep warm with all the vents closed and a puffy underneath. While in warmer humid weather, just open the massive vents on the sides and keep dry while still being able to "breath" and stop sweat from soaking you from the inside out. It is very weight efficient, easily packed, and well cut for the active user. The chest pocket is also a favorite feature of mine to safely store a cell phone while on the move yet keeping it easily accessible.
I recently went to Washington DC where it was misting most ofthe day not only didcit keep me dry but warm as well. In fact i had to unzip the sides too cool down at one point. Such an awesome feature
