[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brooks Hyperion 2 running shoe is remarkably comfortable and lightweight. The increased room in the toe box was certainly a bonus, adding to the overall feeling that you’re running barefoot. The orange splash of color on the side of the soles adds a nice contrasting pop to the cool light gray of the shoe. The shoelaces were a little odd at first, but I quickly got used to them and saw the benefits of the ridges to keep your laces tied. The rounded sole provides some rolling bounce when running in the shoes giving the feeling of a bit of an extra spring. All in all a solid running shoe that’s currently at the top of my rotation!
Hyperion tempos were my go to shoe until I started training for my first marathon. I’ve noticed soreness and less energy to go further, so I ordered a pair of Hyperion 2, after hitting 26.2 miles in the neighborhood and running the Rocky run Italian stallion challenge 13.1mi with one month of use they did achieve my goal. The only problem I have is the treadwear on the bottom is almost totally gone, so I had to order another pair before my marathon on November 24. I only trained two times a week. After this marathon, I may have to find another model that can last longer, but I’m not sure if there is. I have 10 pairs of Hyperion tempos which I guess I’m gonna use for the lower miles.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design of these shoes have a really nice clean look. Not too bold, nor too conserved. Somewhat unique with the high back behind the heel. I really look for running shoes with a great fit and the fit was spot on, not too narrow, nor too wide, which made for a smooth ride. They seem true to size. They have a very extra cushy feel, however almost to the point of feeling a bit unstable underfoot, but not quite. This makes for good cushioning and impact mitigation while running though. The fabric was very breathable and they feel durable. I especially liked how lightweight they are. My only recommendation is that maybe if they made the shoe broader at the heel it would feel more stable with the extra cushion. Definitely would recommend.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are the first shoes to make me speechless… in a good way! They are so incredibly light which makes it feel like you’re not even wearing shoes when you run. Next, there is so much cushion all around the shoe. From the sole to the back where your Achilles meets the shoe, to where your foot sits. It honestly feels like you’re running on a cloud. It’s amazing. The colors are vibrant and clean and the breathable mesh on the front top of the shoe keeps my feet cool while running. One more thing that I’d like to point out is something I’ve never seen before. The shoes laces have like a ribbed/grippy texture to them! I don’t know if there’s a purpose for that, but they feel really cool and they look cool! I would definitely recommend these to everyone I know. Overall, such a fantastic running shoe!
I like how non-prescriptive this shoe is. I mean, I can run in these shoes relatively easy and it’s very smooth, light, and trouble-free ride. But the moment I decide to pick up the pace, these shoes just allow me to reach something like 6:30 min/mi efficiently and without any issues. I’m a heavier runner: 6 ft tall, and around 180 lbs BTW. These shoes feel relatively close to the ground while providing excellent cushioning and impact mitigation. I prefer the cushioning here on the Hyperion 2 to the one from Glycerin 21 - which I find surprising - but hey these just work for me (and Glycerin is awesome too)!
Loved the comfort and breathability of this shoe. Very soft but responsive midsole and I could feel my feet cooling down due to the great ventilation on the upper. I had problems with the width in my midfoot, just couldn't get the fit dialed in right even with different lacing techniques. I'm normally a size 14 and I felt the shoe length was good but I don't think the shoe had enough volume for my foot. For someone with lower arches or narrower feet this would be a great daily trainer and it feels light enough to pick up speed quickly for tempo runs. Might consider bumping up a size to see if that helps at all!
Bottom Line - I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend these to anyone. I've gotten about 15-20 miles in, and really like the fit and feel of this shoe. I don't love overly cushioned shoes, and these fit that bill. They are very light and comfortable making them perfect for the few runs I've had them on. They still felt comfortable into mile 7 of a decent run. For context, I've trained for, and run, my last several 1/2 marathons in the Levitate (which I feel like gets a bad rep - great shoe) - the Hyperions are lighter to run in, and I'll be curious to see if they hold up like the Levitates do.
Outstanding shoe - truly kind of unique in the running market. Not a super stack, not sloppy soft, but a great fitting last with accommodating width and volume. The midsole durometer/density does my 128 lbs. very well, but I feel it would be perfect for those even ~40 lbs. heavier. The asymmetric lacing is ingenious, as is the discreetly padded tongue; and, the laces! …keep them, please! Never surrender them! You know, I don’t even double-knot them! Gravel, pavement, treadmill, hills, etc. I’m happy. ( I am a rather neutral, midfoot runner.) I’ve had all the Hyperion models of the past, and most of the other major lightweight players, and the Hyperion 2 is the hands-down winner.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new brooks shoes have all the features you would expect from the brand- comfort cushion, durability, and the new Hyperion is no exception. The edge of them looks like a no show sock, and is very sleek with joggers or shorts. The shoes do run a bit small- which was a bummer! I really wanted these to be my new go to/ so size up half a size and make sure to use a thinner sock!
