Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Go-to Hiking Shirt
I like these shirts so much I already have three from two or three years ago. They're my go-to hiking shirts! They're lightweight, quick-drying, and provide great sun protection! I was excited to see what changes and improvements had been made since I last bought them! ... Unfortunately, I don't like this new one as much. It still provides all those great features that make it an awesome hiking shirt. It's still super light, dries very fast, and provides great sun protection. I wore it comfortably on warmer days with sleeves down, still nice airy, or sleeves rolled up and buttoned in place. Wore it comfortably on cooler days as well, in low 50s/high 40s. The little zippered pocket on the back/side is a nice new touch, and the slightly larger sunglasses loop is nice too! It's also got a very nice stretch to it, so it doesn't restrict free movement. Unfortunately, what I don't like as much is the fabric, while still stretchy, it's got a little less spandex than the older model and it's a little noticable. In addition, the fabric is just a touch stiffer, the old fabric had a little waffle pattern to it and felt softer. With the new zippered pocket it doesn't quite work as well (size medium, I'm 5'6") to tuck in, either. And the buttonholes on the sleeve roll-up tabs are incredibly stiff, near impossible to button. But all of that is more feedback for future improvements. If you're looking for a durable, comfortable, versatile hiking shirt that breathes and proves great sun protection, this is a great choice.
Hiking shirt falls short
This 2XL shirt had a lot of promise when it arrived but i think fell short for me, literally. When i tried on the shirt the bottom of it just met my waistline which meant i couldn't tuck it into my pants/shorts, and if i raised my arms it would become a belly shirt. The sleeves were similar as well, falling just at my wrists but any movement meant they would rise up my forearm. I have other 2XL clothing and it fits me just fine but this was almost like a slim fit which isn't my style. Aside from the sizing, the shirt itself had great material, was a lovely shade of green and felt very light yet durable. Had this fit me properly i would have seen it being used for yardwork in the spring/fall, hikes, an other general work/activities that require a durable shirt. I think the buttons on the sleeves to secure them when rolled up is a great feature for hiking, and the pockets having zippers ensures that your belongings don't fall out.
Trail shirt with all the details worked out
REI nailed it with this one. First, the fabric is light, soft, wind & sun resistant and most importantly - you can easily slide your long sleeve jackets over this material. Hallelujah. Then there's the build quality: super tight seams, all stitching immaculate. How about the design? Thoughtful touches include discreet velcro patches for the front, pleated pockets; another discreet loop for sunglasses and then the zippered security pocket. All these elements are tucked away to keep the look svelte. I wore this through Arches and it kept me wonderfully thermo-regulated. My only drawback: don't care for the color.
A functional, multi-purpose shirt
First, the color of this shirt is excellent. It’s sage green. I love the color; it looks even better in person than online. As an avid hiker, wildlife photographer, and overall outdoor enthusiast who is more concerned about function over anything else, and with that being said, I like the style and feel of this shirt. The fabric is the kind that is designed to keep you cool and wick away moisture. It’s a fabric I am familiar with, and the type I look for when shopping for outdoor wear. The things I like about the design and function of this shirt are the vented yoke for breathability, the decent size breast pockets that use Velcro to keep them closed, and the fact that if you roll up the sleeves, there is a way to ensure that they stay rolled up with the nifty button tab. There is also a small, zippered pocket on the left side that I am not sure what it’s designed for, but you could easily use it for keys or a spare camera battery. On the flip side, this shirt is a Large, which is the size I generally wear. However, I found this shirt to be just a bit snugger than I like in a hiking shirt. The sleeve length is correct, and I don’t know if getting a larger size would change the sleeve length dramatically to the point where it would be uncomfortable. I wore this shirt on a recent birdwatching hike in Florida. The temperature during the hike was in the low 70s, and the shirt was very comfortable throughout the morning. Even though the shirt is a bit tighter than I am used to, I could move about with no noticeable restriction in arm movements, etc. It’s a functional shirt and will undoubtedly be part of my outdoor wear wardrobe.
Doesn't Breathe
I am a long time fan of the REI Long Sleeve Sahara shirt. For about 10 years they have been my go to shirts for hiking and just for wearing around town. Unfortunately this new design is a major disappointment. They removed the under arm vents, and now the shirt doesn't breathe at all! I find myself sweating in it anytime I wear it. Even just going out to dinner or sitting in the office. Won't be buying again unless they bring back the under arm vents. (Giving 3 stars instead of 2 since they actually brought back some earth tones this year and it's still nice looking shirt.)
It's a really good shirt.
â—¦ This is a well-made, well-fitting shirt. â—¦ For fit, I'm roughly 6'1", mostly slim of frame, and my arms are longer than usual. I usually go with an L or even XL in shirts to get the sleeves right, but this shirt in an M has sleeves that are not too short without the torso billowing around me loosely. Despite closer-fitting than many of my other shirts, at no point it feel tight or binding anywhere. â—¦ For design, I'd good overall with good venting/flow. The chest pockets do the job. The seam pocket on the side is nice and zips up, but it is very small - credit card yes, full wallet no. The curves at the cuffs and hem are pleasant. I got the green harvest sage green, and it's a good less saturated green without feeling like a military drab too much. â—¦ The material feels tough and durable overall. It does have a bit of stiffness beyond perfect comfort, but I very much imagine that will lessen as the shirt gets broken in and washed more, given my previous experience with similar shirts and materials.
Perfect except for horrible zipper placement for b
I love this shirt so much I had to modify it myself to fix its terrible flaw. Material, style, fit are 5 star worthy. However, they decided to put a zipper directly under where my backpack hip belt sqeezes my skin, resulting in pain from the zipper head digging into my flesh. I ended up hiking with my shirt pulled up on that side, which was annoying. I am a good sewer, so I spent a few hours removing the entire side pocket and zipper. It is now an excellent shirt. I'd buy like 10 of these if they just moved that zipper higher or removed it entirely
I quite like it
I've only had this shirt for a few weeks, but so far I like it. I enjoy the light, pastel-like colors, and I wish that there were more options to that effect. The sleeves are appropriately long for a sun shirt; I like that they hang lower than the waist of the garment. It's quite comfortable, I've worn it on a few 100 plus degree days. I personally don't have a use for the little side zipper pocket. The only feature I miss would be a little holster in the chest pocket for a pen, but that is small potatoes and this shirt is marketed more for hiking and such rather than as a work shirt.
Fit for Slim Men
I love the fit. I'm slim, 31 waist, 6'2" tall. A medium sits perfectly on my shoulders. REI does a clever thing with the sleeve cuffs cut on a slant so the sleeves fit the body naturally. A synthetic material forms the shirt; I'd love to see it in organic cotton. I have two of these shirts. I alternate them over a solid t and wear nothing else.
I love this shirt
This shirt is excellent for hot days in the sun hiking, on the water, or working outside. The sunglasses loop is awesome and the button-up sleeves, ventilated back and mini zip pocket are all very functional features. Two of my friends liked mine so much that they bought them for themselves.
