Advanced technology with cycling comfort!
In 5 weeks, I've enjoyed riding my new Caad13 105 Di2 road bike from REI 175 miles here in SW Florida. Some media and cycling sources describe this model as an "entry level racing bike." I wanted a light, quick, and comfortable road bike at minimum. It is much more than that, to my delight. The Caad13 (Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design) is extremely smooth in its operation with Shimano 105 electronic shifting at your fingertips without any hesitation in your motion or efficiency moving forward. Although I have no intention to enter organized racing at this point, I do enjoy riding this bike quite fast on the open road and light traffic pathways where it "thrives." This bike is so much fun to ride quickly or whatever pace you desire because the ride is also comfortable and with very evident precision. This light and aero Cannondale frame design is a game changer for me at age 73 for multiple reasons. Although, as a very experienced cyclist, a superior performing bike was but one goal. The lower purchase price with the advanced aluminum concept frame rather than a 100% carbon fiber model made the Caad13 an attractive alternative. Yet, some pros say the Caad13 exhibits a very similar performance. I also like the Shimano hydraulic disc brakes on this bike for immediate and safe braking. Another aspect I find helpful is the onboard Garmin navigation system in sync with the Cannondale app to document the statistics of each ride with mapping which was new and added fun for me. It also tracks the data for automatic notification for free "break in" service and routine "lube and check" service and other longer term interval service at REI. In summary, if you want a fast, high performance bike, at a price oozing with value ...take a look at the Caad 13. I'm sure glad I did.
