I found these to be super baggy & shapeless. I'm fairly well built in my lower regions, having spent the past couple decades propelling myself around with my legs. And I'm still swimming in these things. So while I really don't like the cut (a very personal thing), the Scree pants are a nice, streamlined and versatile soft-shell pant. I just wish they weren't cut like JNCO's :) If you're wondering about the differences between these and the Portal pants: The portals are much more fitted & tailored (fixing my objections to the Scree), but they have a really silly belt mechanism which is uncomfortable under a pack hip belt. SO, if you like the roomier fit, go Scree. If you don't, and don't ever plan on wearing a pack with a hip belt, maybe try the Portal.
The new version is sadly inferior to the old version of which I have owned at least 5 pairs and wear all the time . You cut all the great functionality like side leg zippers, belt loops, back pocket, lighter material, cheaper logo. I have scoured the internet for the old product . This is now has gone from an awesome product to a me too product produced by the likes of hip brands like Patagonia, Stio, Arcetryx .. please produce the old version again and charge a bit more if needed.
The rear pocket was eliminated and the hand pockets are now mesh that your keys poke through and key chain gets caught on. I feel these were changed to make the pant more affordable to manufacture but the consumer price increased which is becoming common in the industry. I Like the soft shell material and cuff changes but the old driclime pocket liners were more appropriate for a cool weather pant.
Nothing but accolades and positive attributes for these pants. I have owned (still own) 3 pairs for >5 years with no complaints. Perfect for hiking, climbing or whatever your indoor/outdoor pursuit. They’re comfortable, durable, and long lasting. I do wish they had more color choices. Thanks Marmot!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the third pair of scree pants that I have purchased (I wanted a different color). This is a very high quality product which fits very well and is extremely durable. Although not inexpensive, it is clearly well worth the premium price. You can expect to utilize these pants for many years.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These pants are great for hikes or just wearing casually. They have a good amount of stretch and are good at repelling water. They are also roomy, so if you want a tighter fit, consider another pair of pants. But if you want something that is flexible, this is a solid way to go.
I wear these winter biking in AK. I layer long underwear depending on temps. I also wear them around town. I’ve got several pairs. The crotch has developed a hole in a few pairs, but I’ve used them extensively. I hope these don’t go away.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been buying the Men's Scree Pants for several years. When a new color becomes available I grab them. I live in the Tahoe/Truckee area and these are my "go to" hiking and casual pants.
Windproof, water resistant, stretchy as &*%$ and the most comfortable three season pants ever! My only complaint, a shock cord around the bottom hem so the length can be adjusted. The best!
This is perhaps the 12th scree pants I and my wife have bought. It will likely be the last. Pockets are terrible. None in the back and the side ones are not as expected.
