Instant New Favorite
This is my first Melody piece that I've purchased from OR, and I am so happy with it. The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable, as I've heard it would be, and it's stretchy and flexible. The cut and fit is perfect for me in the XS, it's very flattering, and not restrictive. I saw several reviews which were claiming this year's version of the Melody jackets were a thinner, less desirable material, but it doesn't feel *thin* to me, and personally I don't think I would want this jacket to be any thicker as I would be worried it would seem bulky and too stuffy/hot. But I live in the CO mountains where it is dry and the sun often feels very hot. I am already grabbing this jacket a lot, as a spring outer layer, or mid layer on cooler days, and am definitely interested in purchasing more Melody items!
Sizing/Material Change
I had another jacket from the melody line, so I purchased another (in a different color) but didn't realize that there had been so many changes between years. This jacket is smaller and fits more snug than my previous version (both are a small) and the material isn't as soft or stretchy. It's heavy enough that I can still use it in the fall/winter as a layering piece, but it's definitely not something I would wear by itself.
I would buy this again if...
I've owned a full Zip Melody "jacket" for a couple years in a really nice gray heather. I've worn it A LOT and it still looks fabulous. I'm 5'7" and with a few extra pandemic pounds, at 150# now, and so the Large is a bit snugger than I'd prefer. I'd love to purchase another one. My only complaint is that I hate the long sleeves with thumb hole cuffs. Please make a version with regular length sleeves!
Best light jacket
I own 2 full zip Melody jackets, one I purchased in 2019 and one I purchased in 2021. The 2019 version had larger pockets. I can fit my phone into the 2019 interior pockets, but not in the current 2021 version pockets. I really love being able to drop my phone into the large internal pocket in my older Melody and wish the new version had the same larger pockets. The 2021 version has a longer body and much better thumb holes. The 2019 version feels thicker and has a double-overed material over the wrists, which keeps my hands warmer than the 2021 version. The 2021 version also feels thinner than the 2019 version overall. I wish they would being back the larger internal pockets, thicken the material back up, and keep the horizontal thumb holes and longer bodice. Overall though, the melody full-zip jackets are my absolute favorite and I live in them from October to April, from going to the office, the gym, to wilderness rescues. I'm 5'7", 130lb, B cup, and the XS fits like a glove.
I would buy this product again
This is my favorite jacket for working outside landscaping and gardening, excellent for regulating body temperature as I live in the mountains. The color Loden is quite vibrant and warm, I was hoping for a more cool green but the color has grown on me. Great fit 5'6" 115 Lb and xsmall is perfect.
Athletic comfort and style
My curling team bought these as our team uniform and they were a great choice. Warm but breathable, easy to move in and love the length of the torso and sleeves! Will be a great layering addition to active wear for shoulder seasons as well as continuing to wear for curling.
I love OR products
This thing is super comfortable abd stretchy. You'll want to wear it on the couch, yard work, hiking, and around town. You can use this for a thermal baselayer all the same. It's just an amazing piece I recommend to all my friends
Beautiful color but it's way long
I really want the jacket to work out. I love the color ( I got the green/Loden color). I'm 5'3 and wear medium size. The jacket is way too long. It's like I'm wearing a tunic.
Loving It
Not just for trekking in the outdoors. Wore this golfing and this garment moves freely with every swing!
The stretchy fabric is very comfortable
