The changes with the Guide 17 over the Guide 16 and prior generations makes this a no go for me. The Guide 17 is a noticeably larger shoe than the Guide 16 and prior generations. The foot strike area is different than prior Guide shoes. The size. The Guide 17 is large and wide and felt awkward and uncomfortable to walk and run in. The widest part of the shoe, the forefoot area is nearly 5 inches wide, a half inch wider than the Guide 16. The midfoot area on the Guide 17 is nearly 3.5 inches wide while it is barely 2.75 inches on the Guide 16. The heel area is on the Guide 17 is over 4 inches wide while it’s a just under 3.5 inches on the Guide 16. When I opened the box I initially thought I had been sent a wide width or had mistakenly ordered something other than medium width. It’s like the shoe has become an extra extra wide. Foot strike area. The Guide 16 and prior generations my foot strike zone would be the forefoot area but the Guide 17 is the heel to midfoot area. The offset of the shoe changed from the Guide 16 to 17 or the description on the website and the shoe are wrong. The website lists the Guide 17 as having an 8mm offset which is the same 8mm offset for the Guide 16 but the actual Guide 17 I received has a 6mm offset printed on the sole of the shoe.
I bought these shoes 3 weeks ago and I would say they are the most comfortable shoes I have run in. I am a big guy weighing 110kg, but these shoes are so well cushioned that I don't feel the impact of each footfall in my knees. I have also noticed a significant reduction/absence of the shin splints I used to have. The rockered sole also helps with forward propulsion. I absolutely love these shoes, however I would say breathability leaves a bit to be desired.
Thanks for sharing your feedback!
Very comfortable. Ran a race in Jamaica with my husband. He said it felt like he had no shoes on. Very light weight. Great purchase
I purchased the Guide 16 Wide after recommendation from Runner’s Alley after an assessment and scan of my feet - the fabric on the right shoe ripped from the toes to the middle of the shoe only after six months of use. I submitted a warranty claim and was only offered a 25% discount on another purchase; I find this unacceptable. Save your money and buy a different brand. Even a response from Saucony to one a review says these shoes only have a life expectancy of 6 months!! What a rip!!!
I bought these about 3 months ago. They are decent shoes. The cushioning is good and the look. However, they are already falling apart in the inside of the shoe. Quite disappointed as this is the first time this has happened to me

I decided to try these out after not loving the 15 and 16s but this is a total refresh and it is amazing compared. Very large platform and very stable on the heal particularly if you have achillies injury Now at 100 miles in and I'm 6'2 - 220lbs so I got through shoes quick and these required no break in period and holding up extremely well. Cycling these with endorphin shift 3 and endorphin speed 3 Endorphin shift 3 is still superior and my go to But I use these for easy 5 - 8 milers just for a break from shift 3s to switch it up Saucony if you're reading this - please continue shift line, it's not too late to change your mind
Thank you for sharing your experience!
I have gotten into marathon running. As a result, I have become pickier with the shoes I wear due to the massive number of miles that I run. I like Saucony shoes. I tried a prior version of the Saucony Guide a number of years ago and did not like the feel. With the overhaul of the shoe this year, I decided to try it again. I love the shoe now! I overpronate on one of my feet and this new version of the Guide totally allows me to run comfortably with no insert. The shoe has a nice cushion to it and does not feel heavy on my feet. This new version is two thumbs up in my opinion.
I'm a nurse and I can run all over the ER in these. I've been wearing Saucony stability running shoes pretty much the last 12 years and these are my current ones and some of my favorites. Lightweight, some decent structure, great support and comfort. The fit is a significant departure from the Guide 16, especially around the heel and rear ankle, but it's an improvement in every way. Feels like the Guide ISO from a couple years ago. I wear these for 12 hour shifts in a busy hospital and I have no pain or complaints.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I spend most of my time running on off ( smooth ) trails and stick to your rugged to enjoy nature more. Unfortunately this is a faster way to wear out out your shoes faster but its also a way to find out very QUICKLY if you HAVE a GREAT PAIR of RUNNING SHOES! These new Saucony Guide 17 runners I personally believe are lacking what it takes to go the distance on most trails beyond your standard SMOOTH PAVED. They DO have a nice LOOK about them and will do for a comfortable everyday WALKING SHOE, but NOT for my LONG DISTANCE RUNS. The PROBLEM seems to LY MID SOLE- it is very FIRM and seems to POUND INTO the TENDER SOLES of my feet as I'm RUNNING and the MORE RUGGED the TRAIL the more PAINFUL it BECAME. Needless to say I will DEFINITELY be STAYING off rugged trails with these Saucony's Guide 17 runners.

Probably more a 4.5, but no option for that. I'm a regular runner for decades, but admittedly I buy my running shoes based on color. I just can't stand the neon pinks and screaming bright teals, oranges, etc (never understood why running shoes companies do that). Anyway, nice color, feel solid enough. The heel is ridiculously wide, hence the 0.5 off. Otherwise, comfortable, and the color is not intensely loud.
