Leather takes some TLC, but it pays off big time
I wanted waterproof shoes that didn't look waterproof for traveling around Ireland and the UK in the rainy season. These fit the bill perfectly. They're real leather, so they're not hiking ready out of the box. Once they're broken in and waterproofed, they're amazing. A review mentions these aren't waterproof. Out of the box, only so much. Just like all exposed grain leather shoes, they'll block your feet from getting wet but will absorb water until you put a protective wax on them (I used Sno Seal, $10). This does darken the leather, but now water just beads up and rolls right off. They're like rain boots now, only breathable. Absolutely wonderful. A review also mentioned blisters the first time they wore the shoes. I also got blisters the first few times I wore them, but I expected this going in. Leather needs to get broken in but once it does it stretches and molds to your foot. After about two weeks of wearing these regularly for short periods of time, they're totally broken in and exceptionally comfortable. Breaking them in takes some time and waterproofing takes about two hours of work over a 48 hour period. If you're willing to do that, these will be amazing and super cute hiking shoes for you.
Good quality, not perfect
I'm happy with these boots overall. They are definitely stiff but I'm hoping they'll soften up over time. The sizing was spot-on for me, although they are definitely on the narrower side. The color is a bit different in person, but I can't really identify what the difference is. The Teva quality is definitely there. I have a different pair of black Teva lace up booties that I absolutely love, and was hoping to love these just as much. I think time will tell. I like them, but they aren't my favorite boots ever.
Beautiful and They Fit!
These boots are beautiful and they fit! I wear a size 5 and I often have to make do with a size 6 and shoe inserts. These boots actually came in size 5. I loosened the laces and have been wearing them around the house to break them in, but I can already tell they will be comfortable to wear all day.
