Sizing Notes

Altra’s unique FootShape™ toe box and zero to low shoes are built to place your foot in a natural position, with a stable and confident foundation to run on. When fitting, be sure to allow a full thumb’s width in front of your toes. If your feet are used to cramped toe boxes, Altra shoes may feel a little big at first. Give your toes some time to get used to the newfound wiggle room.

Altra offers a range of FootShape fits:

Original Fit: The fit that started it all, Original is the roomiest of the 3 options from Altra.

Standard Fit: The most common fit from Altra is right in the middle of Original and Slim.

Slim Fit: The slimmest-fitting Altra option still allows room for your toes to spread out naturally.

IS THIS SHOE TRUE TO SIZE? The product Features above will provide a suggestion if Altra advises you to size up or down in this particular shoe. If no such note exists, please order your regular size.

The Torin 7s are my first pair of Altras. My foot doc recommended them as my feet are wide and have arthritis in both. It took me a minute to get used to the zero drop but now I’m a fan. I love these shoes but after just over two months they’ve started ripping on both sides near the top lace where my foot bends. I wear them indoors 4 days a week. I’m sorry but that’s unacceptable for any shoe. As a nurse my running shoes typically last me 6-10 months depending on the shoe. I am so disappointed because I finally found a shoe I love.

Like running on air!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received these shoes in exchange for my honest feedback. I'm an avid runner - I'm running on the street, trails, or treadmill 5 or 6 days a week. These shoes provide a level of comfort and support I've never experienced with any of my other high-priced running shoes. I feel like I'm running on air. The shoe is well made and durable. I've put them to good use and they function just as well as the day I received them. I will say might not be as stylish as other brands, but they serve their function better than any of those other brands ever have. Definitely a worthwhile purchase for any runner looking for functionality and comfort while on the run!

Comfortable and springy running shoe

The Altra Torin 7 is a very comfortable and springy shoe with a wide toe box (I can see where this wouldn’t be a good shoe for someone with a more narrow foot). Normally I run in Brooks Levitate shoes, which have more minimal cushion. These shoes felt like a good amount of cushion — more than my Levitate, but not too much where it felt like it would impact my gait. The fabric was breathable during a long run and is stretchy (nice if you have a bunion like me). I also appreciated the flat laces, which didn’t unlace during my runs. The one thing I didn’t like was the back of the shoe, which is higher than my other running shoes. I felt it rubbing and need to use a bandaid until it breaks in more.

Comfy, light shoe for daily runs

The first thing I noticed putting these on was how cushioned they are, like having a spring under my heel. I ran a few 3-5 mile road runs in them and definitely felt a good bounce to them. The only downside to the cushion was that, when I added my insoles, my heel tended to pop up a bit in back. In general, I prefer a stiffer sole and less cushion, especially for longer runs, but I appreciate how light they are (about 8 oz per the description) and how soft the uppers are (no stiff edging). Definitely a comfortable shoe.

Lightweight running shoe

I received these shoes for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. Pros: lightweight, well-made, nice aesthetics Cons: too much cushioning / too springy I think these are a great pair of shoes for a regular runner. Personally, my ankles need a lot of support when running, and l felt these shoes were just too springy and lightweight for my needs. But they're very comfortable and clearly designed with runners in mind. Would recommend.

DON'T BUY THESE SHOES --POOR QUALITY--BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

I was initially pleased with the sneakers, but I've noticed that they have started falling apart rather quickly. There is fraying in the outer part, a hole in the toe box, and ripping by the heel. I am surprised by this because I don't feel I've been particularly rough with these sneakers. I communicated with customer service, but they denied the warranty claim, citing that the falling apart was caused by usage. However, the sneakers were purchased only 5 months ago and have been barely used. This denial does not make sense.

Poor Design

This is my second pair of Torin. I had Torin 6 and loved them, but after having them about 90 days I noticed a tear in the fabric. I am not hard on my shoes anyway, thankfully I could return them. I patiently waited until the Torin 7 came out because I did love the fit and thought the one pair was just a bad pair. I have had the Torin 7 since they came out but as you can see from the pictures I'm not hard on them, the lettering is still in tact and the shoe looks fairly new with the exception of the tear in the same spot as my Torin 6. Unfortunately these shoes cannot be returned. I will NOT buy another pair of Torins.

Torin 7

Torin 7 wide run long and narrow. Torin 5 7.5 wide fit me like a glove. Torn 7 I needed to size down and the toe box was less foot shaped. The wides were at least on the wide side the Torin 6s wide were not even close to wides. I wish Altra would keep the foot shape and have more wide options!

Amazing cushioned shoe great for any occasion!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first time trying Altra shoes and I love them! I was sent this pair of Torin 7 in exchange for my opinion on them and am so glad I was able to find out and share how amazing they are! I love that they feel like walking on pillows-the cushioning is super shock absorbent yet firm enough to cradle my foot just right. I use them for on and off road running and also running errands and theme park days. I love how easy they dry when wet without compromising the integrity of the shoe materials. They take all the pressure of the ball of my foot where I have issues in the past and make the perfect foot health stride for me. I will be a lifetime purchaser of Altra from now on.

"Wide" width is a joke.

I'm SO annoyed. I originally gave a good review of this shoe, but after running in it for a hundred miles, decided the regular width is too narrow. I have a bunion on one side and have for years relied on Altras. I ordered the only option in wide - that bright blue color - and it's literally the same shoe. Ran in them twice and my small toe was numb and my bunion was screaming. Returning. See photos for width comparison.
