Superior Quality

These are superior to anything else in its price range. Best glass lenses I've ever worn. Fit and finish is top notch quality. Anti reflective coating on back of lense is awesome. I forget I'm wearing them instantly. Worth every penny. Only negative is no Maui Jim decal in box.

These are the real deal! As premium as it gets!

These are the real deal! As premium as it gets! To be fair, I tried a pair of Makoa's earlier this year. Although the Bronze glass was amazing, it felt too tight, the frame was squeaky and as it was shiny Black it bounced light into the eye. Really unpleasant experience. Because the Bronze lens was so amazing I decided to give Maui Jim another shot and got the Southern Cross. This pair is the real deal! Lens - SuperThin Glass Bronze lens. Truly unmatched. Blows up the competition with ideal combination of clarity, polarization & color. I tried Costa, Smith and the plastic version of Bronze lens, and this lens tops it all. Anti reflective coating is as good as it gets! Just perfect. Frame - I really like Matte Black frames as it doesn't bounce light into my eyes from above. I was a bit afraid the Tortoise frame will do the same, but I was SO SO wrong.. The frame color is just amazing. It complements the Bronze lens just perfectly. It's like the high end TVs that reflect color on the wall to complement the image. It really works and feels great. The frame tone is pretty dark, it does not reflect any light and really gives the pair a premium look. The frame material is is plastic but the texture is just premium. It feels smooth & 'rubbery'. Spring hinges are great and the frame sits relaxed on my face. Unlike the Makoa's that felt unbalanced (the front was much heavier than the rear causing it to slip from the head), this pair feels much more balanced, with good nose & temple grip. Overall, I really feel I found the ultimate pair. True premium feel for lots of year to come.

Not the right fit for me

I will start by saying I already own and love the Peahi frame. I wanted a new pair with the Maui green lenses and unfortunately they do not make it for Peahi. These do not fit my face as well as Peahi and I end up having to return them as they are just uncomfortable for me and I dislike the nose pad. When I sweat the frame does not stay in place and constantly need readjusted The lense coverage is great, the frames are light, but they just are not what I expected. It's unfortunate that a great lense color is so restricted on what frames it is available for. I only like wrap frames and disliked each frame the Maui green lense is made for.

**Southern Cross Matte Tortise Maui Green**

WoW Just WoW . Have been wearing Costa Delmar Green Lens 580g Glass for 12yrs . Did not know Maui Jim had New Maui Green available now . Just received today and I can not believe How Lightweight these are . The Clarity is Awesome and the fit is absolutely perfect for my kinda Big Head/Face Lol . FYI Costas Lens is Awesome but heavier. Additionally these are Grey Lens with Green Mirror . The Coasta Delmar Lens have a Bronze Lens with Green Mirror . I absolutely Love these and have to say am Extremely Impressed with the Build Quality and Comfort of the Fit . Would Highly Recommend to anyone on the Fence about making the purchase.

Great glasses, horrible case

This is my 3rd pair of MJ glasses, and like some of the other reviews said, the glasses are fantastic, but the case is crap. I am a big guy (6'3" 330) and most glasses are too small for my head. These fit perfectly. Light weight, comfortable, and look really nice. The cheap case is the only downfall. Luckily I still have a pouch/cleaner from an old pair that I can use. The case is good for nothing other than leaving them on your kitchen counter in. It opens easy and will let the glasses fall out and really offers no protection. For the money you spend, you'd think they wouldn't have cheaped on the case so much.

Great glasses but not the cheap new case and no pouch

longtime fan with maaany pairs. Bought two southern cross today blackand tortoise. Glasses are top notch as always. I gave 4 stars as I am extremely disappointed in the flimsy triangular case that not only will open easily and drop the glasses but is not in my view strong enough to use to protect in a backpack. That and no longer incl a pouch cleaner are a bad surprise. For the small savings you got you damage your brand and product as a good case (like my previous pairs) is key to any decent pair of glasses. That new cleaner, did anyone try using it in QC? worst I have ever seen useless straight to the garbage . glasses are excellent but overall value due to case etc are damaged

NOT REAL GREAT AFTER 3 MONTHS

I have worn Maui's since 1996 encompassing about 10 different styles. These Southern Crosses are not great. They were awesome at first but not after 3 months. As a boater you're constantly cleaning your glasses and the coating/glass on these scratch real easy unlike all my previous pairs of Maui's. I believe the overall quality of the glass is not as sharp or crisp as older styles either. Also the arms/temples have gotten real "sloppy" in a very short period of time. I have a 3 year old pair of Surf Riders that has held up way better than these. Just not satisfied with these glasses at all.

Nice, but quality has slipped

I’ve been wearing Maui Jim sunglasses for many years. They are expensive, but I didn’t mind paying the price because the quality was always so good. Though I like my new pair, I don’t love them, and it’s clear the quality has dropped since I purchased my last pair. Not only has the quality gone down, but the price has practically doubled. Not sure what’s happened-did the company get sold? I will definitely consider other brands for my next purchase.

Not Good in Humidity

I can’t change the lenses for this review, but mine are in the reflective green. These glasses are great, fit well, love the metal hinges (I always seem to break the arms off of my sunglasses). The biggest issue is that they fog up like crazy. With a name like “Southern Cross” I figured they would be equipped to handle our humidity. These guys fog up and stay that way, forcing me to remove them frequently to wipe them down. This obviously interferes with how clear the lenses are when they’re not foggy. Water seems to make it even worse, which, as a fisherman, is super disappointing. I’d love to give it a five because they’re otherwise great, but the amount of fog makes them nearly useless.

Great glass, bifocal meh.

As always, the glass is great. Great clarity and contrast. I ordered the reader version as I was tired of taking off my sunglasses and putting on readers to see my cellphone and operate a DSLR. It is much more convenient in that regard. However, they were a bit different than expected. From the description, I expected progressive lenses. It didn't say progressive, but when it said the bifocal lines were practically undetectable, it left the impression - and for the price, they should be. I would also prefer that the bifocal element run across the entire width and go higher on the lens. The glasses either need to be lifted slightly or firmly pressed against my nose bridge to prevent strain.
