Cool, Lightweight, Reflective Awesomeness!
At first these seemed large for my face, and I was going to give them to my hubby after my review; however, these have become my favorite outdoor/active sunglasses!! They are so light weight that it feels like nothing is on your face. The reflective lenses are stylish and look great. I took these glasses to the beach and the ocean water did not stain or damage these glasses. I also took them out on a hike and a bike ride. The glasses are excellent for outdoor sports as they are so light, they grip on the nose and do not slide down even with sweat. They have UVA/UVB coverage. There are grips on the frame above the ears, so the glasses stay in place. These are a great addition to any outdoor enthusiast!
Tifosi Rail XC
Love! Very well made and really nice looking. I really like them. I got the crystal clear color way and it is perfect. Have only had time to wear them out for a run and they are super light weight but stayed put. No sun in my eyes and will use them for all my outdoor activities. I would definitely recommend.
Forgot I had them on
Light weight I forgot I had them on... I went to ich my brow & then remembered... They did an excellent job keeping Sun, air, & dust out. I was totally protected & I got to enjoy the beautiful views on my mountain hikes, no darkness. I really like that they are clear yet keep the sun out! They have a hint of baby blue hue to them. They fit nice though I think these maybe for men... but still fit me comfortably behind my ears, no pain... They have rubber at the ends. No sliding down. One tip - when I needed to adjust them I realized I had to use the nose bridge to not leave prints as they are all lense.
Going to have to hide these from the family!
Definitely recommend these Tifosi sunglasses! Excellent fit, they did not budge during a 5 mile run, crystal clear lenses and super light weight. Love the style and quality and excited to put them to use during these crazy hot Arizona summer days. The only issue is that I will have to hide them from the rest of the family as my two teenage athletes think they are as fabulous as I do! These sunglasses were made for athletic endeavors and I like having a pair for running and cycling. Highly recommend without hesitation if you are looking for a quality, lightweight, and excellent fitting pair of sunglasses.
Good for biking, but need better cleaning cloth
These were really good single purpose sunglasses. While wearing them while out on my bike, they did a great job of keeping the wind (and bugs) out of my eyes allowing me to focus on obstacles on the road. They also stayed on my face well despite sweating. The lenses also darkened some when I would ride in brighter areas which was helpful to keep the sun out when I needed it, but also have more clarity in lower light situations. Overall, functionality was quite good. I was not a huge fan of the style once I saw them in person, especially as my forehead would constantly grease up the top of the lens, but my biggest issue was with the protective bag that is supposed to double as a cleaning cloth. I didn’t think it cleaned them very well at all, and found myself scrounging for a better quality lens cloth.
NBA reviews the Tifosi Rail XC Sunglasses
NBA received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review....I like the look of these glasses right out the box. The sunglasses came in a nice case with an extra pair of lens, which are shatterproof, scratch-resistant - made of a polycarbonate lens for eye protection. They are a little big for my liking, but they did feel great. Love the rimless design. The nose and ear rubber piece kept them in place while sweating. No fogging. I use these primarily for biking, but could see them being used in other outdoor sports.
Great, reliable pair of comfortable riding glasses
I wore these glasses on a 4+ hour ride and found them to be really quite good. The ride took me through shaded and exposed areas with overcast and sunny stretches and even a little rain so it was a great ride to test these out. The lenses provided great coverage and clear definition in varying light. I was a little worried that the single piece, black nose pad would prove to be a bit large and uncomfortable but actually found that not to be the case. Instead, the glasses were extremely comfortable. I didn’t need to remove them at all on my ride. Neither the nose pad nor the arms created any discomfort over a long ride (for me anyway). I had also feared that without any frame up top that sweat would drop down into my eyes but this did not happen once despite high humidity and a lot of perspiration.
Performance Driven Cycling
These are designed with great performance in mind. The frameless lens extends nicely on each side for maximum peripheral view. The top of the lens also extends far enough on the forehead that when I’m in my drops/aero position and looking up, there is no visible edge. The clear lens is great for those early dawn and dusk rides, but changes enough for sunny conditions. Great overall light feel that stays in place and is comfortable with the helmet on. Aesthetically these wouldn’t be my choice for just casual wearing, but for a function-specific set of glasses for the bike I really like what these offer. I do not run with glasses on so have not tried them for that, but anticipate they’d do well staying in place.
Good Sunglasses With a Few Flaws
TL;DR - These glasses are a decent, well priced option for low- to mid-intensity light situations like early morning, late evening, foggy or overcast weather, although they do come with some flaws. Best used for cycling but also a good option for running, walking, etc. Full Review – The Tifosi Rail XC occupies a slot at the mid-range of performance sunglasses, which offer a good bang for the buck, but do have some flaws worth noting. Starting with where these sunglasses excel, they are a great option for lower light intensities such as early mornings, late evenings, or foggy weather. Their clarity is excellent, which further helps to improve that low light performance. I didn’t notice a giant change due to the photochromatic nature of the lenses, but I also wasn’t going from bright to dim areas frequently in them. The sunglasses are also incredibly light, allowing them to sit on one’s face for long periods of time without discomfort. As to where these glasses fall short, there are a couple of minor gripes in my opinion. The first being the lack of lens when looking down. This isn’t a big deal when cycling, but while running or hiking, about 15% of my view isn’t covered by the lens, all of which coming from the bottom side of the glasses. Since you’re looking up while cycling, you won’t notice it, but when looking down during running/hiking it’s a minor annoyance. While moving slowly (such as during a cool-down after running), fogging tends to occur when the weather is humid and if you run hot, which is frustrating to say the least. I will say I didn’t experience any fogging while actively running or cycling. The biggest issue I noticed was the distortion. Unlike other performance sunglasses I’ve used, there was noticeable distortion when looking to the side as compared to directly forward. This bothered me, but in all honesty it isn’t a huge issue and one could likely get used to it, but if you’re used to distortion-free lenses this is something to keep in mind. Overall I’m decently happy with these glasses in spite of their annoyances, as they really do a great job for low light duty, but wouldn’t consider them for my only pair unless I lived in a perpetually overcast area such as the PNW or only used them for cycling.
Impressed
Very impressed with these. I bought them for road biking but now also wear them for mountain biking, trail running, etc. they stay put, adjust nicely to variable light conditions. They do not fog up (unless you stop while sweating heavily). The only thing I wouldn’t wear them for are very bright conditions (think sunny days on snow). They just don’t get that dark. But I live in the PNW so I don’t have that problem.
