I paid for brand new and got gently used used
I was super excited to get these!. I had injured my foot and needed a pair of comfortable slides to wear inside. Instead of buying cheap ones, I opted to get them more expensive ones. I chose this color also. As I open the package up today when I got home from work I noticed that the underneath of them were gray. Pretty sure that someone wore these around either their home which was very dirty or outside. Then they return them and then they were shipped to me even though I paid for a brand new pair of Hoka slides. I'm not sure what REI is willing to do for me. I just feel like it's disgusting that somebody else wore these slides and didn't even clean them and return them. And product return control didn't even bother to clean the bottom of them before they ship them back out to another customer. Yay for me!
Gen 3 is terrible
I absolutely loved the older generation of recovery slides. They cured my plantar fasciitis that had been plaguing me for over 3 years! I have recommended them to everyone who mentions heel pain and over 10 friends have bought them. That said, I can no longer recommend the new version. They are terrible. Way too narrow (I don't have wide feet), the heel cup is uncomfortable, they are too short, not as squishy. I tried two different sizes and both were uncomfortable for different reasons. I ended up finding an older generation pair online and am anxiously awaiting their arrival. Why ruin a great thing, Hoka?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
Very disappointed in Hoka's current recovery slide because I have an earlier version of this slide (it's about 2-3 years old) that fits and feels way better than the new version. The new version is not as comfortable - it is not as wide as the previous model, and there is a little ridge on the back of the heel (which you can see in the profile of the shoe that is pictured in their ads) that is uncomfortable. The old version of this shoe did not have that ridge, it was wider, and its slits went horizontally across the shoe; the horizontal slits make more sense because they are laying across the top in the same the way your foot bends when you walk. This is just another example of a company changing a product that had absolutely nothing wrong with it, and typically when they do that, they think they are improving it. I'm bummed about this because a podiatrist recommended these shoes for a nerve problem, and so I'm going to have to find something similar by another company. My bottom line is if it ain't broke don't fix it. Hoka tried to fix something that wasn't broken.
First three months are like walking on a cloud
These sandals were so good the first three months it healed the swelling on my feet. ( I have a flat foot…and then the foam started collapsing and the swelling started back again. I wish you can improve the quality of the foam. I am give Hoka a second chance and got a new pair thinking the first set might have been a faulty pair. Keeping my fingers crossed, it saved my life the first three months. 😢
Not uniform in size.
I always try shoes on my right foot, as it is bigger than my right foot. Did this like always and it fit perfectly. After getting home I put on both sandals and realized that they aren’t the same size. The left sandal was too small for my foot! Both sandals were marked size 10 on the bottom. Definitely a defect in the molds.
Beware if you pick the color grey/grey
The shoe itself is comfortable, but beware if you pick the color that is described as grey/grey that it will look nothing like the picture. The picture shows the shoe as sort of brownish. In fact, it looks two-toned in the first picture, black and brown, but the shoe is a light grey. Alas, I only looked at the picture and didn’t notice that they label the color as grey.
Loved the comfort level but it was short lived
Comfortable but felt like they got shrunk (one of the slippers) in the sun when I left in my backyard. I’m looking for something similar but want to make sure they can survive in all weather.
Ultimate comfort and support
I’ve been wearing the Hoka Ora Recovery Slides 3 around the house during my pregnancy for about a month and couldn’t be happier. They’re incredibly cushioned and offer excellent arch support, which is crucial for anyone like me with high arches. I love that they’re super easy to slip on and off, making them perfect for quick tasks or just relaxing at home. The wide footbed feels stable, and the curved design seems to help reduce foot fatigue. If you need supportive yet comfortable house shoes—especially during pregnancy—these slides are worth a try. I am planning to buy a second pair to wear out and about during warmer months.
Awesome Slides!
I own the Hoka Clifton 9 in size 11 and tried the slides in the same size, but they were so big I wondered if any size would work. But before giving up, I ordered a size 10, and the perfect fit! My heel rest just against the ridge at the back of the slide, which keeps my foot securely in place with the instep of the slide firmly against my foot. Anyone that has worn too big slides can relate to needing to grip your toes to keep them on your feet, which is uncomfortable and defeats the purpose of a recovery slide. Properly sized, the Hoka Ora allows me to relax my foot and is incredibly comfortable. I measure a 10.5 in most cases, but I order size 11 shoes most often because they are a better long-term fit without being jammed. A half-size drop might be appropriate depending on how you fit Hoka shoes, but a full-size down from my shoe size has been great for me.
Great Slides, Do Not Believe The Colors Online
I bought these in gray, expecting to get the same two tone dark shade of gray represented here online. They fit and feel great, but the gray color is not an aesthetically pleasing dark gray, it's a light institutional greige. They're really an ugly color. I'll be exchanging them for a more pleasing and accurately represented color.
