Good buy for the $

Keeps coffee hot for hours, which for me is the main thing. Doesn’t leak. Takes some practice to learn to drink without spilling because of my nose hitting the top. Really hard to open after use. For the money it’s a good deal.

Pros & Cons for GSI Outdoors Glacier Commuter Mug

I found pros and cons with this mug. Pros: It keeps the liquid really cold for several days. It fits into my car holder well. I light the red color. It seems very sturdy. Cons: When you tip to drink, your nose hits. (I have a small nose). The top is too large and not as easy to remove to refill. I have small hands and I barely can reach my hands around it. I don't like the drinking part. I much prefer the "pop-up" spout type.

GSI, Commuter Mug' review.

The Mugs do keep the Temp. (hot Tea) well, however the 'twist seal Lid' ?swells? to the point that is almost impossible to 'twist'; to remove; when it is hot.

very hard to open the cap if it waits for a while. And always find a way to leak from the cap.

Harder to open after subsequent uses

Maybe it's just me, but the first time I used the mug my wife had a hard time twisting off the top. I had some trouble but got it open to wash it. The second time was a bit more difficult but it opened. Just yesterday I had a heck of a time opening it. I almost gave up and threw it away but kept trying. I contemplated grabbing some channel lock pliers but didn't want to damage it. After a solid 10 minutes, I finally opened it. I think I may have over-tightening the lid, so I'm giving it one more use. If I still have trouble, it's going in the trash.

Another great GSI drinkware product

I have several GSI Microlite thermoses that I use for coffee & water. When I saw this GSI mug on sale, I was excited to get it to use with tea. It keeps stuff hot and is easy to drink from. Fits in my car cup holder. I am quite satisfied.

Impossible to open

Returning all 3 that I recently bought. Cannot open the top. Reading that it swells even more when heated. No thanks.

Low Performance

Does not keep liquids hot or cold for very long. Sipping often results in overspill on to your face, lap, and shirt.

Bring hand strength with your coffee.

Keeps my coffee hot for longer than I need. I get 2 to 3 hours on a test, but who needs that much time to drink their coffee. No leaking issues but as a result the top can get pretty tight to unscrew. You also have to pay attention to the starting position when screwing it in to land it in the smooth drinking area. The difficulty in opening and closing the lid cost this cup a star.

GSI Commuter Cup

The shape and texture of the outside makes it easy to hold and it’s a great color! This commuter cup is unique in that the top insert is screwed in and not the entire top. It makes cleaning easier.
